From all of us fighting for bodily autonomy, religious equity, and inclusion in our sport. THANK YOU
@ItsNaimahM
for showing us all that it’s fine if people have different needs for meet attire, and the importance of self advocacy.
Hey
@OU_WGymnastics
@OU_MGymnastics
we’ve noticed you haven’t done a Pride Meet before. In memory of Nex Benedict, we would like to invite you to discuss this with us now or during the off-season. We have helped other schools with their first Pride Meets.
It’s Queer History time!!! The moment she competes,
@CaitRooskrantz
will become the first openly LGBTQ+ WAG gymnast to compete in any Olympics. No others (that we know of) have been out while competing. Congratulations Caitlin!!! 🏳️🌈
“I regret the interviews I’ve done praising the (UCLA) program.” -
@IAmMargzetta
Of note for us, as we discussed UCLA as well as racism in gymnastics with Margzetta in our episode.
Hey
@NCAA
it's pretty messed up that our transgender co-host doesn't feel safe to go to 3/4 of your gymnastics regionals or your national championships because of their locations. Do better. Choose locations that are safer for marginalized people.
We believe this means that Syd Morris becomes the first openly nonbinary gymnast to win any all-conference award in WAG or MAG! We're so proud of you, Syd!!!

We uploaded our first episode on January 17, 2020. We knew of no openly queer WAG athletes.
6 months later
@sav_fs
joined us to tell everyone they weren’t alone.
Today is January 16, 2022 and she’s waving a pride flag in front of ABC cameras.
We’re gonna cry a lot today.

We would not exist and certainly wouldn’t be the same podcast if it weren’t for Spencer (
@TheBBSituation
). Wishing him a full recovery, the best care, and as much stability as possible.
It appears in this video that, right after the competition ended,
@CMemmel
was aware her petition was denied for Trials. Chellsie, could you confirm when you filmed that Day 2 part or when you were told the petition was denied?
We appreciate ur help and understand if you decline.
Lia Thomas is in fact evidence that hormones impact performance and remove advantages in the exact ways transphobes claim they cannot.
This is why the rules, which she has followed, exist as they do. We already figured out how to make it fair.
“It’s hard to say COVID helped me because it was very tragic for many people. I’m so sorry that this happened to everyone and I’ve always thought of everyone going through this, but the extra year did give me the ability to understand myself and who I can be.” –Jordan Chiles
Today we celebrate the history made by the athletes at Fisk.
Tomorrow we continue our fight for answers and justice for Leeiah and any others harmed at Fisk.
It can, and must, be both.
We are officially remote media for GK Classics and USAG Nationals! We get to interview 3 athletes per session. Which senior elites do you want to hear us talk to?
“Women’s” NCAA Gymnastics teams/athletes to support if you wanna root for queer athletes this season:
Georgia (Perez-Lugones)
Florida (Schoenherr)
Rhode Island College (Ciardi)
UCLA (Steele)
UNC (Nguyen)
Washington (Brovedani)
(And probably many more TBD)
Anyone we missed?
6th Jan, 2023: Naimah Muhammad has made history as the first collegiate gymnast to complete a competitive routine representing an HBCU (Fisk)! This is the culmination of decades of advocacy by the Black gymnastics community.
Hey
@USAGym
- these comments made me sick to my stomach, and you and your legal team may want to take a look at this. - Blake (USAG Member - Instructor)
“...I am confident there are experts who can address any and all issues with science-based expertise rather than blanket discrimination of an already marginalized and at-risk group of young people.” -

Olympic medalist and USA Gymnastics Hall of Famer
@kathyjohnsongym

#transgender
athletes shouldn’t be denied the opportunity to participate in sports just like their non-transgender peers—and she’s speaking out.

You have about 48 hours!
We’re following TWELVE teams this season. Some teams have multiple openly LGBTQ+ gymnasts. We don’t like posting lists or exact numbers, but this could be the year we hit 20 openly LGBTQ+ gymnasts on rosters in the same season! CHANGE IS HAPPENING!
Hello new followers! We’re Blake and Kino, co-hosts of Half In, Half Out - the first and only gymnastics media organization focusing on the LGBTQ+ community. All liberation is connected so we are also anti-racist, combat sexism and abuse, combat ableism, and seeking equity.
Lots of new followers! Happy Olympics, ya’ll!
We’re Blake and Kino, co-hosts of Half In, Half Out Podcast - the 1st and only LGBTQ+ gymnastics podcast. We focus on uplifting LGBTQ+ gymnasts/coaches/etc, but also provide gymnastics coverage from a queer lens. So glad you found us!
Have you been disrespected by your federation?
Compete for Disrespectistan!
We’ll accept your petition.
Morgan Hurd is on the bills.
Becky Downie is on the coins.
T-shirt (etc.) coming today.
In case you missed us saying it a million times:
We are a podcast that aims for queer and trans liberation in and out of sport.
We cannot achieve this without also combating racism, sexism, ableism, sizeism, and religious oppression.
It’s intentionally Black. It’s intentionally queer. It is intentionally celebrating Black queerness.
It’s also PHENOMENAL in the dance and the gymnastics and the energy.

After Regionals moved to Oklahoma, we considered going to Nationals. We have decided we will not be spending any money in Texas. We call for
@NCAA
to move all collegiate playoff events out of Texas.
What's happening in Texas will lead to higher rates of abuse, harassment, and ultimately suicides of trans children. Greg Abbott is attempting to completely erase trans children from the public square, and trans kids will die because of it. Those are the stakes here.
Today we are interviewing the lovely
@norah_flatley
!!! Reply with your questions! Can be about being an LGBTQ+ ally, gymnastics, or anything else you want to ask Norah!!!
Our interview with
@EllaDouglas96
!!! This is what we dreamed of when we started this podcast - space for LGBTQ+ athletes to share their stories. Ella is the first women’s NCAA gymnast (MSU) to come out publicly while still competing.
A moment to reflect as we continue our Championship weekend:
We’re
#FlippingExhausted
that lawmakers keep attacking transgender kids and their families. To trans youth and their families: we see you, we support you, and we believe in you!
@freedom4allusa
#transgymnast
A year ago, our goal was to start a conversation about LGBTQ+ identity in gymnastics. Lucky for us, the gymnasts had the same idea. It’s time to set some new goals. Here are some short, medium, and long terms goals we’re reflecting on today.
It would mean a lot for ya’ll to take this step and take a stand against LGBTQ+ oppression. Your geography and your prestige both make it mean more. We have guidance ready for dealing with dissent on the team/staff.
Okay so. We wanna talk to ya’ll about a thing that’s happening.
We decided to say yes when asked by a journalist from Flo to be interviewed for a Pride month story. We believe in this particular journalist, and decided it was worth it to have the opportunity to highlight
Leanne is a minor, so be sure to direct your thoughts at the parents.
After Leanne disclosed yesterday she isn’t vaccinated, folks followed up with her parents, who seem to be very hesitant regarding the vaccine. Article worth the read.
This is why kids need to wear masks and why we need to be extremely cautious with our plans to return to higher risk in person activities such as school, work, and sports.
Here’s what we have planned:
- Profiles on LGBTQ+ gymnasts
- In depth looks at LGBTQ+ culture within gymnastics including the athlete, coach, and judge experiences
- HOPEFULLY interviews with LGBTQ+ gymnasts, coaches and judges
- Explaining trans focused rules, etc.
