Students at Georgetown Washington University along with students from Georgetown and other universities in the DMV have established an encampment in solidarity with Gaza at University Yard on GW’s campus. Follow along here for more updates (1/?)
Breaking: Over 200 students walked out protesting Israel’s invasion of Gaza this morning. Approximately 70 of them took to the streets after about an hour, marching to GW’s campus, where earlier this morning students from across the area began a Gaza solidarity encampment.
EDITORIAL: Joe Biden is not only the best choice for our country, he is the necessary choice. A vote for Biden has become a moral imperative that will directly affect the present and future lives of millions of Americans.
BREAKING: Georgetown University will require all undergraduate and graduate students at the Main Campus, Medical Center, and Law Campus, to be vaccinated for the fall semester.
Earlier today, President John J. DeGioia was admitted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center after suffering a stroke, and is currently in stable condition, according to an email from the Chair of the University Board.
BREAKING: The university anticipates bringing the full Georgetown community back to campus for the fall 2021 semester, according to an email from President DeGioia.
BREAKING: Georgetown will move to virtual instruction through Jan. 30, 2022. Undergraduate students may still move into on-campus residences beginning Jan. 11.
NEWS: The three-year agreement, which secures pay raises, additional protections for victims of sexual assault, and new health benefits for 1,000 GAGE members, will be the first-ever union contract for graduate students at Georgetown.
BREAKING: The university will be implementing a COVID-19 booster shot requirement for students, faculty and staff beginning in the spring semester. Members of the community must provide documentation of their booster on or before Jan. 21, 2022.

BREAKING: The SFS will no longer pursue a renaming after Sec. Madeleine Albright, Dean Joel Hellman wrote in an email to SFS faculty, staff, and student representatives Tuesday.
BREAKING: Starting on Feb. 25, GUTS buses to Rosslyn and Dupont Circle will be operating on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., according to a social media post from GUSA.
As the 7 p.m. deadline given by GW to clear the square nears, the crowd in University Yard has only grown, surpassing an estimated 500. Police are grouping toward the back of the square and chants continue to get louder.
BREAKING: GAGE, the Georgetown graduate student union, reaches tentative agreement with the university on benefits, pay after over a year of negotiations
BREAKING: Georgetown administrators told GUSA reps. a plan is forthcoming on the GU 272+ reconciliation fund. It is unclear if this plan will follow the referendum voted on by students in 2019, and members of the advocacy team say they haven’t been consulted. Story to come.

A recently hired SFS staff member has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation in response to alleged antisemitic social media posts, according to a Nov. 2 email from SFS Dean Joel Hellman.

OPINION: The chance to attend college at an elite university in America is a privilege that the majority of the population will never get, and we’re not entitled to spread a deadly illness simply so we can have in-person classes and gatherings.
