A test of ‘masterclass’ leadership is the ability to recognize, manage and contain a problem before it becomes a crisis, or an emergency. One does not waver, choose expediency, bow to special interests, or shirk from taking bold, tough, decisive and even unpopular action.

Citizens cannot be arrested or prosecuted for breaking laws that lawmakers themselves are on record as openly flouting. In all such cases, offending lawmakers must be prosecuted too. There’s only one law in a country, and it should be enforced dispassionately and evenhandedly.

It’s important that a country’s laws are evenly enforced. For eg, arrests for Covid19 breaches should extend to all visible offenders, inclusive of lawmakers, politicians and celebrities. Anything less will bring a country’s law enforcement into disfavor. No one is above the law.

A public servant is just that - a servant of the people, whose interests he must serve and protect. A public servant must not compromise his obligation to the taxpayer. He must not abuse his office for money or other benefit. And he must not bow to the bids of special interests.

A disposition to be corrupt is typically rooted in greed, selfishness, the lack of a moral compass and a total disregard for the welfare of one’s country. There’s seldom any monetary measure that can satisfy it. Such persons, if found in public office, should be removed forthwith

GM folks. Remember, where there’s no accountability, expect poor standards, creeping incompetence, and a certainty of indiscipline. Wishing you all a safe and pleasant Saturday.

GM folks! Do not be misguided into thinking that Covid is no longer a threat to you. There is every indication that it’s still stalking us and is ready to strike the moment we drop our guards. Be responsible. Think smart. Wishing you good health and a safe and pleasant week!

GM folks! The world’s best trained scientists, doctors and immunologists have long urged us to get vaccinated. Almost 5 billion doses have already been administered globally! If you’re on the fence, do you know something that they don’t? Act now before it’s too late! Best wishes!
