It’s not everyday that you get to see the ethereal shape of an angelic spirit rising towards the heavens from within The Angel. At least that’s what it looks like to me :))
Well the plan tonight was 3 fold, namely 1) avoid the inevitable crowds at all the honey spots 2) aim for some watery reflections & 3) secure an image for my ‘25 calendar. Hopefully all 3 have been ticked off :)
Sometimes you just can’t catch a break these days. A 3am start to beat the day tripping hordes & then this narcissistic lot turn up to stand right in my line of sight ! (:

I think I failed to post this one earlier. As good a juxtaposition of boats & castle & low-lying mist & rising sun as I could’ve hoped for. It’ll make someone a helluva print or canvas….:)
Success!! Managed to get them into the river. Feeding & hydrating now. I can stop panicking. Many Thanks to the amazing Blyth Wildlife Team & everyone on Twitter who have been in touch. Much appreciated one and all :)
At the end of a day the like of which I never in my worst nightmares hoped to experience, my spirits have been lifted a bit with a 1000 x 494 mm print request for this view. I’m hoping that
@digitalab
pull out all of the stops to deliver an even more special result :)
@NlandNP
Thanks to the 4x persons placing print request today. Much appreciated. For the record there is a much wider portfolio on file showcasing the Holy Isle in case anyone else is interested….:)
Here in Northumberland it pays to keep our landscapes & sunrises under as Top Secret wraps as possible otherwise everyone else will want to be Wowed too. So then, altogether now….Shhhhh ….:)
Hi
@nwater_care
&
@EnvAgencyYNE
Back to ‘normal’ on the Tyne downriver of Wylam with a 1/2 mile sludge & oil & cr*p slick running along the North bank. This is starting to get ever slightly ridiculous now. Someone has to be responsible for this repeat occurrence

***Re: the illegal felling at Sycamore Gap. Would anyone care to set up a crowd-funded reward for information about the individual(s) ? I’ll happily contribute. But I have no idea how to get the ball rolling. Can anyone advise please ?

My apologies one & all. This evening I discovered another folder with a load of untouched raw Holy Isle sunrise/set files. Here’s the first edit. There are more to do. I therefore strongly advise you engage the block button without further delay (:
The downside of working across the greatest region on earth is that I inevitably end up with a growing backlog of imagery to upload to my own website & the national ones which I inhabit. I’m still concluding the edits from my April foray to the Holy Isle !

An absolute bu*gar of a subject to balance correctly in terms of the extreme levels of contrast when the sun is out. And no, before I get accused, it’s not CGI. If you know what & where, then your veins doubtless run with black & white :)
Once upon a time in a parallel universe in an alternate dimension when you could gaze adoringly at the rust bucket when it was fully lit & looking simply amazing :)
My best auroral experience to date. Coruscating psychedelic colour along a full 180 degree arc, extending almost overhead. It appeared & lingered for but a few minutes. The memories will last a lot longer than that :)
The first few minutes of a new dawn washing over the quayside(s). Not a perfect reflection but the light was just gorgeous so I guess I can stifle my usual standards & live with it on this occasion:)
Final swan update. Little Dog & I were up at dawn to check on the fluff balls. Doing well. They should have theIr flight feathers by October ready to begin the search for new territories of their own. All 5x cygnets may not make it but for the moment it’s ok on the River:)
Newcastle in narcissistic ‘Haway & look at me’ mode after the sun has gone down. I guess that some cities have it, while others look on & weep with envy :)
Sadly, at the very last pre-dawn moment the breeze picked up & my walk-on-water view disappeared. At least I was left with a half-decent sky to work with :)
I generally eschew including them in my architectural work, mainly ‘cos in real life it’s very rare to get the ‘perfect people’ so beloved of the Architect or Developer’s CGI. Ever so occasionally though a decent opportunity presents itself to help with a better idea of scale
Well last night made my life just a little bit harder. The plan was to use 1 or 2 in my 2025 calendar. And then 3 & 4 come along to seriously mess with my brain….(:
A burst of auroral colour across Embleton Bay. The storm had dissipated by the time I arrived at a nearby citadel which meant that any commercial contextual value was lost. Furious with myself. Wasted opportunity. Lesson learned….
Somewhere in Northumberland, just gone 1am, the temperature at minus 5 & still heading south, your toes have long since turned black & fallen off, staring back into time….
