The real takeaway here, though, is that the combination of VVD and NSC are the 'motor block' of any coalition. Neither Wilders nor Timmermans can form a functioning government without them. It'll be interesting to see how Yesilgöz (VVD) and Omtzigt use that leverage.

So in short: infections are skyrocketing, testing has collapsed, patient numbers are levelling off, we don't have enough booster cover and Omicron still has the capacity to make people seriously ill. This doesn't feel like the right conditions for a large-scale reopening. 16/16
