If you go to Tom Sawyer Island now, since it’s closing, try I to put yourself in the mindset of a 6-7 year old. Barrel bridges, the sounds of bats in caves, glowing treasure that makes weird noises - that’s what TSI was made for. Adulting adults won’t get it.

I think “the Disney difference” at Disney’s theme parks was never “stories” or “characters.” It was quality. Everyone rallied to give the guest the best of everything: attractions, design, music, entertainment, customer service, food, etc., within practical limits, of course.

PeopleMover fans today will never know what it was like to go through Space Mountain and see the rocket's glow-in-the-dark stripes zooming by on their tracks. After you get past the astronauts, you're pretty much staring at the dark for 30-40 seconds. It's so odd.

Dr Facilier was NEVER considered by WDI for use in the attraction due to his association with voodoo & Carmen Smith's insistence that any depictions of it would be "culturally insensitive." This is why Mama Odie was changed from a "Voodoo Queen" to a "Bayou Fairy Godmother."
