Question for
@cfbplayoff
committee (could impact SEC bowls):
Should 9-3 Auburn, which beat 10-2 Alabama & played tougher schedule, be ranked higher?
ALA
* 0-2 vs. CFP Top 25 (LSU, Aub).
* 2 wins vs. Power 5 w/ winning records
AUB
* 2-3 vs. Top 25 (W: Ala, Ore; L: LSU, UGA, UF)
You are seeing live & in full color what dynamic offenses can do to very good defenses.
This is why, with an ‘incomplete’ team, the committee’s lean to defense is the wrong lean.
Defense is important. But you’d better have an offense—because this can happen to your good defense.
Born with a broken heart (and failing kidneys) ... today Christopher turns EIGHT.
Thanking God for a healthy, growing boy:

Gus Malzahn in the locker room: “I want y’all to enjoy this. Five weeks ago they had y’all dead and buried. Y’all just played two No. 1 teams in 3 weeks. Nobody else can say that.”
A player: “We’re No. 1!”
Malzahn: “We’re No. 1!”
A little late, but happy birthday to a courageous little guy. Will Kohn turns 7 today … which is his 310th day at Iowa Children’s.
Y’all join me in praying for him as he continues to get stronger after a heart transplant?

Former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops is expected to join Alabama's staff in an off-field role,

NCAA president Mark Emmert says Virginia’s Kyle Guy IS allowed to have a wedding registry (Guy said today he’s not allowed to.)

Webbers Falls, OK, is endangered by Arkansas River flooding and 2 barges that have broken loose and might damage a lock and dam.
Residents have been told to evacuate—or if staying, “write your name and personal information on your arm in permanent marker."
After 40 years, tonight is Dr. Don Jones' final game at Autzen Stadium as an Oregon team physician.
Congrats to an excellent orthopedic surgeon—and an even better man.
I’m honored to call him my friend.

Just for fun, gonna drop the (very?) occasional random photo I’ve taken.
Will include landscapes … or sometimes, uh, stadiumscapes.
Let’s begin with one I took after a game a couple of years back, when the sky decided to accentuate the local color scheme.

After Oklahoma’s spring game, a Sooner legend wanted to meet the newest Sooner quarterback. Jamelle Holieway said he liked what he saw of Jalen Hurts.
“He looked good at quarterback,” Holieway said.

No need for any treatment.

“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” — Billy Graham
From the gangly 16-year-old baseball-loving teen who found Christ at a tent revival, Billy Graham went on to become an international media darling.
He was America's pastor.
How rabid are LSU fans? They're making donations to Division II Assumption College where Tigers kicker Cole Tracy transferred from.

Hey Jalen Hurts: Now that you’ve played in this rivalry, hw does it compare to the Iron Bowl?
Hurts: “I knew that was coming. To each his own. Different environments. But I don’t know if anybody else has ever been able to say they got wins in both. That’s pretty special.”
Years ago in a college English class, I was assigned something on “True Grit.” I checked the Little Rock phonebook. Charles Portis’ number was listed.
I called.
Portis answered—& gave a delightful interview to a pesky kid.
So cool—& my prof was stunned (thanks Charles for the A).
Since that day 23 years ago today, we’ve gone from Arkansas to Oklahoma to Oregon to Oklahoma and soon to Tennessee.
We’ve grown from two to five.
And I’ve grown to love this girl so very much more through the years.
So thankful for her — for us.
Happy anniversary, Shannon!
The situation at Arkansas isn’t settled — but after a fruitless search, signs are pointing toward promoting Barry Lunney Jr., an alum/former star QB who has been the interim coach since Chad Morris’ firing.

A brief thread to follow about how January 16, 2010 unfolded:
1/
A little good news:
After a concerning rise in some numbers, our little guy had a kidney biopsy today.
The procedure went fine. He’s back home, watching hoops--and just unhappy he can't shoot any until tomorrow.
Then the doc called.

What UCF has accomplished is terrific, but this is a losing argument. You’ve got a perennial Power Five program IN YOUR STATE publicly willing to play.
Take a 2-for-1. Play anybody, anywhere. Even if you think you shouldn’t have to … you’ll have to. So do what it takes.
In emails obtained by
@orlandosentinel
, UF AD Scott Strickland tells UCF AD Danny White: "UF isn’t in the market for home-and-home or a neutral site games against non-Autonomy 5 opponents,”
There’s no doubt Arkansas is about to make Gus Malzahn a crazy big offer.
Malzahn said what he had to say in the postgame. (“I want to be the head coach at Auburn.”
Does that mean you will be?
“I want to be.”)
What comes next? Arkansas' big offer—and what then does Auburn do?
