Fr. Issac Achi survived the 2011 Christmas Day Boko Haram bombing of his earlier parish of Madalla where 44 died. He escaped kidnap when his residence was invaded in 2013, he was shot at in a 2021 armed robbery; yet he soldiered on. Now his brave soul rests peacefully.

26 years ago today, a car drove through the gates of Alfred Rewane’s house in Ikeja GRA. The car had the branding of popular flour mill, one of his companies, so the gatemen flagged it in. But those that alighted & rushed inside were unfamiliar to the guards. It was too late.

The O in EKO Hospital, Dr Amechi Obiora, has died at the age of 85. He studied medicine at the University of Ibadan & graduated in 1964. He later joined the College of Medicine, LUTH and rose to become a senior lecturer. He worked there for many years.

At least 600 health workers have left the services of the University College Hospital Ibadan in the last 1 year. About 15 nurses, doctors & pharmacists resigned on a weekly basis. This was revealed by the Chief Medical Director himself at the hospital’s 65th anniversary event.

Just been informed that Sir Keneth Olisa is also the chairman of Interswitch. He also heads a relatively newly foundation, Charles Olisa Charity Foundation named for his late father, Charles Olisa of Aboh, Delta State, who died in 1963. It aims to aid SMEs.

He is the son of Rev. Emmanuel Oladipo who spent most of his career for the gospel in Northern Nigeria. The senior Oladipo was later appointed Secretary General of the Scripture Union worldwide. Tosin was there in the normal course of his duties, and integral to proceedings.

#EndSars Head of Trauma, Reddington Hospital: On that 20th, a lot of the patients were treated at Lekki branch. Later that night, I went there myself to assess level of assistance needed, spoke with the MD of that branch & transferred a patient to our HQ in VI where I work from.

Bob was at the time Manager of the University of Ibadan Zoo. He died at 80 in 2022. They settled in Bristol at the end of Bob’s 16 year ‘stint’ in Ibadan. She was present at the ceremony in her role as Lord Lieutenant of Bristol.

Why does the coronation of the Olu of Warri & the semiotics of it, vaguely remind me of the coronation of a Pope? The last ‘proper’ coronation of a Pope was in 1958; that of Pope John XXIII. Paul VI had a brief one in ‘63. Popes have since been inaugurated; no longer coronated.

Our building began shaking but I wasn’t perturbed. It happens. But when I saw a crack in the wall, I grabbed my wife & children & ran out of the house into the snow. I was dressed only in boxers & singlet. I ran back to pick shoes for myself, my wife & our 4 & 2 year olds.

As Many schools resumed today, The Vale College, experienced a very special resumption. They welcomed the first 2nd generation student; daughter of an alumnus. She resumed today as part of the 29th new intake. Her father was of the school’s 2nd intake into JS 1, in 1995.

Yakubu Gowon’s Nigeria. They were all so young. The oldest were Admiral Joseph Akinwale Wey, 52 (in white) and Police IG Kam Salem, 44(extreme right). Mobolaji Johnson was 29. The rest were in their early 30s. There was even a 27 year old in the larger military council.

Son in law just reminded me a while ago. Three years ago today, I returned home, after nearly three months recovery after a quadruple heart bypass. surgery. I was literally a goner! Ka sa ma dupe. There but for the grace of God...! 😇🙏🏾

Emmanuel Iloanya raised over N27m from sale of 3 properties including one where he buried his 2nd daughter to secure release of his 20-year-old son, Chijioke, arrested by SARS in 2012. Unknown to him, his son was dead but they continued to fleece him, with a promise to free him.
