Obviously the tornado in Pickens was the big story yesterday. However I was on the only tornado warning of the day. This storm had some very impressive structure for August! Luckily this storm failed to produce a tornado, but it was darn close!

PHOTOGENIC TORNADO: Look at this photogenic tornado as it caused damage near Marion, South Carolina yesterday around 6:15pm. This tornado was likely on the ground for 5-10 minutes. You can see what is likely tree debris being lofted by the tornado!

#Helene is likely to remembered for a long time well inland into Georgia and the Western Carolinas. Prepare today for long lasting power outages. If you live in a flood prone area of the foothills, or mountains I HIGHLY recommend trying to stay somewhere higher off the ground.
