Cheating in chess discussions... Many claim cheating online is not as bad as OTB. Sorry! It is exactly the same! The ONLY reason online cheaters do not do OTB is they did not (yet) figure out how to do it but -would LOVE to! Cheating - life time ban! Game has to be clean!

Relatively often I hear comparisons of doping in sports and cheating at chess. Doping in sports improves your chances BUT (!) you need to work your ass off in gym (!) and still do not have any (!) guarantee of success. In chess - cheating is easy GUARANTEED win! NO COMPARISON!!

Yesterday game Karjakin - Firouzja, a display of power (in a positional game!), humiliation for Karjakin. During my work with Alireza, his ability to play any sort of position was obvious from the very start!! Speed he is becoming a 'universal soldier' should worry Magnus!

Pity for Ding. It should be however mentioned that played idea does not belong to him. It belongs to @SusanPolgar , see Polgar-Granda , 1992! I tried to make Polgar's idea work but did not find the way. Ding's team worked out interesting improvement (on the idea)!

It takes some time to remember Magnus losing two classical games in a row. MC certainly did NOT give up on winning the tournament and making 'Fischer like comeback at Piatigorsky 1966'! Additional risks are now needed to be taken. Let's see how this works out!

I had about 80 participants yesterday evening at lecture organized by @ECUonline . Lecture I gave was 'doubled c pawns classical Nimzo positions'. I started with Botvinnik games and build it up to Carlsen. Botvinnik's strategic ideas hold up to this very day!

I do not think that a year ago Anish would have played here Nfe5 and gone for this intuitive sacrifice! This sacrifice was not necessary and objectively wrong. Anish like saw 'safe net' Bg5, but decided to take risk! This might me a game changer for Anish!! I love it!
