I know that people think @NAIABall isn’t a high level of baseball. However I just watched two number ones dual it out this afternoon. One guy sat 90-93 and the other 91-95! There is some really great baseball in the NAIA!

Reason #1 why I rarely send our pitchers to summer ball. I asked a coach to pitch our guy in relief for at most 60 pitches an outing. Jumped online this morning to see that he started and threw 100 pitches. Already told our guy to be smarter but coaches let’s have some feel.

This pitching competition is something we do weekly with our dudes. We want our pitchers to be superior competitors more than anything else. This fast paced, tough environment provides our guys the ability to grow their skill set!

These signs are out at our field everyday. Today when I went 2 lock up I found trash in the rubber/sand bin & I found gum, seeds & dip on our field. This is the exact reason we recruit from a select group of travel ball teams. We want kids who pay attention & do the right stuff.

Transfer Portal Arms: Be straight forward about your metrics. Looked at 4 different guys yesterday who said they were 88-90 here on X. I went and found Synergy & Trackman info on those guys which said none of them were above 85. Just shoot it straight it goes way further.

I am convinced that strike throwers at higher levels either... A. Played wiffle ball as a kid & had a strike zone which was a lawn chair. B. Threw in the backyard to their dad, would bounce a FB that hit him in the shins and then get chewed out for it! B made you tougher!

Too many student athletes leave a school after only being there a semester b/c it’s 2 hard, not fun or more work than they thought. If you quit when it’s uncomfortable it sets up the ability to quit when life is hard… ie your job, parenting, being a spouse…etc…GRIT MATTERS!

Dear @NCAACWS & @NAIABall , We must change the new HBP rule! Pitchers who slop up breaking balls & hit batters w/ shanked FBs shouldn’t b rewarded a strike when a hitter turns his back to it like he has always done. STOP REWARDING TRASH PITCHES! Thanks from every coach in the US!

Dear @NAIABall can we please go to a true RPI rankings system. If we could agree on this as coaches it would take a ton of headache out of the rankings. It would promote playing the toughest schedule possible if you want to set yourself up for an at large bid.

When we went to the WS in 2017 we flew on 3 separate flights into Spokane and then did not arrive in Lewiston by way of charter bus until 4 am. We started traveling that day at 8:30 am. This is laughable! Complaining about commercial flights, C’MON MAN!

Scenario: INF In w/ 1-out, score em situation. We put 7 guys on the INF. Forced our guys to keep it off the ground to score the runner. Machine was anywhere from 93-99. Creating tough environments will allow our guys to succeed when faced w/ big situations during the season.

Spicy thought 🤔: There are too many “facility pitchers”guys who go & get lesson after lesson but can’t pitch. Can’t hold runners, 1.5+ to the plate, can’t control the game w/ tempo & no pitch ability, they just throw hard. Learn how to pitch, don’t just be a thrower!

2021 was tough…I lost my dad to COVID, a friend to cancer, we battled health problems as a family (including a month long battle w/ COVID), we went another year w/o seeing n my in-laws (3 total) b/c of COVID mandates & I was pushed mentally/emotionally to my brink as a coach.

Glad to have a Sunday off! I’ve said it before I despise playing on Sundays. We talk about mental health for SAs yet we nvr truly give them a day off. Yes, Mondays have no practice, but they still have class and HW. I know ppl think I’m crazy but Sundays should always be off!

I dislike playing on Sundays because I can’t go to church w/ my wife. However, today I was able to squeeze in serving at kids worship. The faith & love that those 3-6 year olds have for Jesus fills me up. It is our job as older believers in Jesus to disciple the next generation!

Took a little hike with the girls today. I look forward to Canada every summer to slow down, spend time with family and recharge. I love these times, they are still young enough that they always want to be with me 😂 I know one day that will change.

What I wouldn’t do for a phone call with my dad after a tough day at the field. Even at my age now he would still let me have it when it wasn’t good enough. I appreciate those times because he made me a tougher, meaner & more resilient competitor. #missyoudad

MEN… It’s good to love Jesus! It’s good to love your wife & sacrifice everything for her. It’s good to be a dad who is present at home, one who sacrifices for your kids & loves them like Jesus loves us! Finally it’s good to lead, work hard & be the men we are called to be!

Scraped ice off the windshield w/ this. I’ve kept this in my wallet as a reminder of where I’ve been & sacrifices made. My wife & I lived on food stamps w/ 2-kids just trying to make it in coaching. For all you young guys don’t give up when it’s hard, keep pushing for your break!
