He was never a nice guy, but he was always a good kid in hard times who was trying his best. He got mad, he was spiteful, and he definitely wanted validation, but deep down, he was just a lost soul who needed something or someone to give him direction.

Outside of Ditko, Peter is pretty consistently characterised as internally spiteful, but genuinely empathetic even in his teenage years.

And now, to round off the Ultimate Trinity, we have Ultimate Batman and Robin! The main premise here is that this is a Bruce who never had an Alfred or some kind of guiding mentor after his parents' death. He was simply an angry soul in a tortured city.

I think this opinion is really unfounded, not because Miles' time in 616 is objectively better or anything, but because his stories in 1610 weren't particularly impressive for people to clamor for it so strongly.

The last and my personal favorite pitch before we get into teams. It's a top to down reinvention in Ultimate Captain Marvel! The pitch is succinct: What if the deconstructed super-being was returned back to the children that need that power fantasy?

Fuck it, that Ultimate Wizard Magazine tweet got me inspired. Here's my pitch for Ultimate Superman. What's the big difference between him and Prime Earth? Well, he wasn't raised by the Kents. No, no. He was raised by the Els, who found refuge on Earth after Krypton's demise.

@ComicsAsh For amateur writers out there, let's make this seem less discouraging by putting it in fanfic terms. This is a Spidey Superfan killing the ship he hates in a fanfic to make way for the ship he likes, he just found a way to make the killing impactful.

This is the biggest swing yet in my Ultimate DCU. From the ashes of The Green Flame of Will rises a young Kashmiri sorceress: Inaya Maqbool, The Ultimate Green Lantern. The big twist here is mixing the Silver Age Sci Fi of the GLs we know and the Golden Age Magic of GL's debut.

SUPERMAN YEAR ONE by Frank Miller and JRJR is a travesty of a story that through its twisted worldview, fails at its one job: portraying Superman. This story aims to ground Superman before seeing him shoot up into the sky and become the myth. Every origin aims to do this.

A person who has “spent his entire life feeling isolated and alone” isn’t going to be extroverted. It makes more sense that he’d suppress his emotions like how he had to hide his physical powers. But will learn to open up to the world as the world becomes more open to him.

That is until he meets a rough street-kid who dared to take the wheels of his car--Jason Todd. This is the story of two wounded children in a city that took everything away from them, learning to overcome their trauma and become more than their darkest fears.

He's not a murderer, but he isn't opposed to self-defense (as far as he knows). He isn't necessarily opposed to gun, yet he finds himself unable to use them. He is a pulp adventurer in a noir city that always seems to be in shades of gray.

this man stole my spider-girl tweet!! jk but to answer this, it's because i think The Flash had a stronger focus and structure than Nightwing. Even if the tone is similar and everything seems close in intention (taking character out of dark rut by shining light on them)...

Every complaint people have about Taylor's nightwing applied to Adam's Flash run too I'll never understand why Twitter chooses to hate on some comics and not others

Ok while I don't like the specific context of this Clark's roughness with Lex (conservative busybody) I do like that Clark may genuinely have a moral blindspot for lex. Like their feud is so deeply personal that Lex is the only one to illicit spiteful, rageful responses from him

it only took 5 issues for them to start this trope. the whole repeating gwen's death thing is way more played out than even i thought.

Oh fuck I just had the best idea for a twist. You spend the beginning chapters where Lois is still alive seeing Clark age somewhat "normally." Like Earth 2 gray temples and wrinkles. But then Lois dies and THEN we hit the audience with the big twist. We pull a Claremont.

had a fun idea for a Superman: Life Story thing where Superman does not age, right? So, every issue explores him dealing with new friend groups and new status quos that reflect the era of the decade. Like it's the same Superman, but he sliding time-scales himself.

CEO Lex works as a secret identity that is eventually blown wide open. It's a reflection of Clark Kent. Both Clark and Lex's "secret identities" are their perception of what is the best kind of "normal human." A humble reporter and a power-hungry billionaire.

Trying to frame Lex Luthor as someone who benefited from being a CEO tycoon as opposed to the hyper zealous homoerotic mad man with an axe to grind is the most lame shit. He was dangerous before the mid 80's. War monger, terrorist, mad scientist, conqueror, etc.

Everyday, I understand more and more why Moore's best ending for the Superman is one where he loses his powers

CLARK HAS A NO-KILL RULE!! HIS MOST POPULAR ENDING DEALS WITH BREAKING IT!! It stems from an entirely different place than Bruce's! And I'm not super confident in saying this, but he probably had it first! BATMAN DOES NOT HAVE A MONOPOLY ON INTERESTING CHARACTERISTICS!!!

@ZeiSpaceKaiju I hate phantom zone endings in Superman stories, it feels like the writer gave up and went home. I think making him a strict "no kill" guy takes away from the moral burden of his powers; and makes him more Batman-like. I've always felt the ending was the best part of that movie.

Look I'm not a big fan of the Kents dying before Clark is even in the suit. Implies that trauma is the thing that drives him when it's not. Even Silver Age didn't do this (he was Superboy). But once he's in the suit, buy the coffins and dig the holes. They gotta die sometime.

Kal El (his human name is Caleb Elliot) also shares many similarities to his Prime Earth counterpart. He and his family lived out his childhood years in Smallville. He had a crush on the girl next door, Lana Kent. His best friend was an outcast like him, Lex Luthor.

Superman villain concept- the super rich of krypton believed jor-el but decided to turn the population of krypton against him and manipulated zod to distract everyone And they flew away on their own private arc and left the rest of krypton to die
