This is the official Twitter of Firelands Athletics. The mission of Firelands Athletics is to help our student athletes maximize their potential and ability.
I'm a proud AD as the past 2 days I visited each high school & middle school practice & witnessed every coach, player, trainer, athletic director following all health guidelines. We may not know what the future holds, but Firelands is doing things right to have a season.
A big thank you to
@GovMikeDeWine
&
@JonHusted
for thanking the time to answer questions in regards to the return to play protocols. Thank you
@OHSAASports
for all the work you have done hand in hand with state leaders in getting our kids back on the playing fields.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the Firelands community lost a great one today. Dave kept the clock for 41 years for the Falcons and the scorers table will never be the same. I'll miss my buddy. Rest easy friend.

It's days like this that you really have to LOVE being a Falcon. One of the toughest days for students, staff and of course the AD, and the support from the student athletes and community is unreal. I tried to put as many 2020's as I could. Nice job keeping social distance.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! What a team! Thank you for all that you have done as a group representing the Firelands community! Thank you to all of the Falcon fans who made the trip to support them. It's a GREAT day to be a Falcon!
Thank you Falcon Nation for coming down and supporting Payton! Mrs. Wheaton all of these kids have excused absences. Thanks Josh Frederick for the hook up on the suite!
#FalconPride
Traveled 246 miles today surviving on energy drinks, gas station gummy worms & sunflower seeds to watch our Baseball team in the Regional Semifinals at Bowling Green & then straight to Lexington to see track compete in Regional prelims. And I loved every minute of it!

STATE UPDATE: Blake Ruffner advances to the State Track Meet in the 400m dash with the 1st Wild Card spot. This is the 1st year that the OHSAA takes the top 4 finishes from all 4 regions + the next 2 fastest times. STATE BOUND! Congrats Blake!
With 2 state placers and 20 total team points Firelands has achieve a new level in wrestling. Both are school records and all the credit goes to Sean, Payton and the coaches. It's a GREAT day to be a Falcon!
4x Conference Champion - 3x Sectional Champion - 2x District Champion - 4x State Qualifier - 3x State Placer*. We couldn't be more proud to have him represent the Falcon Wrestling Family and all of Falcon Nation.
Are you ready for some Falcon Baseball? Alex Brill might be. 405lbs x 3 on the back squat. Leads in the classroom, the weight room and the field.

@ODUBaseball_
Unfortunatly, there will be no video as Paytons opponent for 5th/6th, Logan Ours from Beaver Creek took a medical forfeit in the match. Payton finishes the 2019 State Wrestling Tournament standing 5th on the podium! 3x State Placer! Great job P!
Thank you to the Girls basketball players and coaches for treating us Falcons to a great year of basketball. 20 wins and a Sectional Championship is a huge accomplishment. I enjoyed watching all 93 games that Emily, Lexy and Alaina played as Falcons. Congrats on a great 4 years
Hard to put into words how proud I am to have these boys represent Firelands Athletics & our baseball program. Thank you seniors! If you live your lives the way you play this game, you will find much success as husbands, fathers & leaders in the years to come.
#FalconPride
You would have had to be here to believe it, but the Falcons battle back on senior night after being down 0-2 to Wellington and defeat the Dukes in 5! So proud of these girls and this school for the culture they have helped build.

#GreatStudentSection
BALLGAME! Falcons rally back and WIN in walk off fashion 9-8 in the bottom of the 8th! Senior Calvin Stull with a single up the middle to win it!
#seasonofdreams
Grandma Annie and I at the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association Banquet where she was awarded the 2019 Service Award. After 27 years of service it is well deserved. Congrats Annie!
No tears for the Falcons in the locker room after the game. These boys did all they could have done to improve, compete & represent Firelands over the past 4 years. Failure happens, but what you do to prepare to win will be the difference in how you feel when it is over.
#ProudAD
I know it's not real, but having Payton in the Virtual Wrestling State Finals is pretty cool. It's what I thought was going to happen. Now let's bring home the Virtual Championship!
@VOhioTournament
To honor the class of 2020, Firelands HS will join many area schools and light up the stadium for 20 minutes from 8-8:20pm on Mon, 4/20 to recognize the Senior Class of 2020. The stadium is still closed to the public during the recognition.

Raise the victory flag! A. Becker drives in the winning run in the bottom on the 7th and the Falcons defeat New London 5-4! Great job ladies!
#thepowerof10
Congrats to the varsity girls as they keep the Stillman Cup in the Land of Fire as they defeat Vermilion 50-38. P. Phillips led the way with 18 for the Falcons. 1-0 on the year!
#StillmanCup
After conversations with both the NEDAB and the OHSAA rules committee, senior Golfer Aaron Urban will be added to the District Golf Tournament due to an oversight on a tie breaker rule at Sectionals. Thank you to all that helped navigate this unique situation.
A shout out to both the girls & boys soccer spectators tonight from
@Brookside_AD
& Firelands with masking up & social distancing. I thought it may have been those Covid PSA's I was reading, but im starting to think it was because you want your kids to have a season.
@OHSAASports
Big comeback win for girls soccer over Vermilion tonight. After being down 2-0 at the half the Falcons score 3 for the win in the 2nd half. L. McCrary with 2 and J. Douzos add the final goal to keep the Stillman Cup in The Lands!
#proudAD
UPSET ALERT. Firelands and Keystone go wire to wire & the Falcons protect The Lands by a score of 68-65. The lone senior Austin Urban led all scorers with 22pts with 6 3's!
Proud of our Baseball program for a fantastic season as they drop a tough one to Wapakeneta in the Regional Semifinals. It has been a great experience for the whole community. Thank you seniors for accomplishing something no other senior baseball player has before.
#FalconPride
Congrats Blake Ruffner in finishing 6th place in the OHSAA DII State High Jump. He is the 1st All-State performer in both football and track for The Falcons. Congrats Blake!
Congrats to Trainer Joe for being awarded the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association service award! Thank you for all you do! Well deserved!
Not sure I could be more proud of a group of players and coaches who have worked so hard to achieve so much. Congratulations to the Firelands Baseball team for bringing home an outright PAC Championship! 13-0 in the PAC and
#1
in our hearts!
#FalconPride
Nothing better than starting of the OHSAA Tournament with an extra inning walk off. Lexy Coggins drives in her little sis' Tori to defeat Buckeye 7-6. Great team win ladies!
It's ALWAYS GREAT TO BE A FALCON! Thank you to the Firelands Athletic Boosters and the School District for all of the support with the Athletic Facility upgrades this summer!
#FalconPride
Congrats to all of the Graduating Falcons. Grabbed a few athletes after the ceremony and let them know how much they have meant to the athletic department. Good luck in your future endeavors! We are all proud of you.
#FalconPride
With Blake Ruffners last jump of 6"4" he will finish no lower than 3rd in the Region and qualify for the OHSAA Dtate meet next week in Columbus! Congratulations Blake, we are proud of you!
Win, lose or tie one thing that makes me so proud of our girls soccer team is not only how hard they compete, but how well they treat each other before, during & after the games. Good things happen when you treat people right. Trust the process & never waiver from the big picture
