I wrote this in 2011 and I still feel the same way :)
Life is our teacher, teaching us with good experiences and painful ones. The painful days are difficult to understand but it is from these troubled times that we learn to be strong.
It’s official! I’ve been promoted to L7 at AWS - Head of the Modern Compute Community. Words can not express how grateful I am for all the support I’ve received from my team, the community, & everyone at AWS. Huge thank you to

Being a single Mom is tough... very tough. Providing 100% of all the support at home, in life, and financially is not an easy task. Feeling this hard lately.

I’m giving my first keynote this week…. I’m incredibly anxious & nervous.
I’m talking myself through it (barely) & am thankful for the friends I’ve met through the years that provide me feedback, confidence, & support me. This definitely helps build my confidence.
Hmmmmm… I’m not sure that today was the right day to choose to look at Twitter after taking a break through the Holidays.
But since I am here…

He’s home again! The blood has stopped leaking, his kidneys are back to normal, & he’s eating/drinking. Now we just have to manage the infection & the swelling of his bladder & all should be well. Huge thanks for all the love, well wishes, & support, it meant the world to me. ❤️
Welp he was released from the hospital Wednesday and had to go back in today. This guy is my bestie and I feel broken without him. I’m panicking, stressing, and sad. Please send healing vibes to him.

My son doesn’t know it but I wear this bracelet he bought me every time I do a talk. “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” It provides me the courage I need to step on stage and speak to a room full of people.

Kid: Do we have any empty letters and the mail stickers?
Me: I am not sure what you mean.
Kid: Do we have everything necessary to send a letter?
This conversation had me laughing for days, we obviously do not mail letters from our house very often.
I just boarded my flight home and I can’t seem to stop the tears from falling down my face. I’m coming home to a different United States and with different rights than I had before leaving.
My heart hurts.
I’m scared… I’m disappointed… I’m frustrated… and disgusted. 😞

There is so much going on in so many peoples lives and I hope you all know that you can reach out to me if you need someone to talk to. It’s been a tough couple years and we could all use a listening ear.
Why can't people just be nice and try to support one another. Why can't we take time to notice the good that others do instead focusing on mistakes or their faults?
Makes zero sense to me to put so much energy toward negativity.
