Too many engineers, both ICs and execs, make the dumb decision to roll their own infra from scratch with terraform/CDK etc.
Every dollar you spend on an engineer doing infrastructure work, is a dollar that someone using
@Flightcontrolhq
is going to use to out compete you.
When should you consider Flightcontrol?
1️⃣ You are hitting cost or technical limitations with platforms like Vercel or Heroku
2️⃣ Launching new services on AWS but don't want to spend time on devops
3️⃣ Want to stop maintaining things like terraform soup or kubernetes
🔥 Flightcontrol is now 100% free and unrestricted for individuals!🤑

2.0 🔥
AWS has been too intimidating and tedious, causing teams to settle for a simplistic black box PaaS or hiring devops too early. But no more! 🙅🏼
Our Developer-first AWS infrastructure enables you to use the best AWS services without manual
BOOM. We’ve successfully added support to CloudFront for stale-while-revalidate cache-control header.
This is a massive game changer for Next.js on AWS.
Look for a release this coming week.
🔥Announcing first-class Next.js ISR support!! 🔥
AWS Cloudfront doesn't support Stale-While-Revalidate caching out of the box, but we've added it for our customers!!
This now powers the Next.js site with incredible performance

@jefflinwood
Finally we have full text search!
Still tons of work to do on docs, but this is a good start.
🔥First ever RDS database preview environment feature is shipping soon! 🔥
Optimized for low cost since all PRs use the same RDS instance, but each PR still gets an isolated DB.
Currently only works with Flightcontrol deployments, but we could integrate with Vercel/Netlify.
Introducing Blazing Fast static site support!
Now you can easily deploy your marketing site or single page app to AWS alongside the rest of your infrastructure.
100% free for most people because of AWS's generous free tier.

Just saw my new UI layout and design 😱
Apologies in advance for putting almost every other platform UI to shame 😅
We’re working super hard to blend simplicity AND power. The amount of controls and info is unprecedented by PaaS. And the elegance is unprecedented with AWS tools
This is incredible.
Bun replaces node, npm/yarn/pnpm, jest/vitest, tsc (except for typechecking), and webpack/rollup/esbuild.
Drop in replacement, full node compatibility

📢 Announcing our Redis ElastiCache feature!
This rounds out our services for fullstack apps:
✅ Static sites
✅ Web servers
✅ Private workers
✅ Database (Postgres/Mysql/MariaDB)
✅ Redis
Now's a great time to 1) save money & 2) get power/control by migrating from PaaS 😉
Woohoo!!! We finally shipped RDS database support last week!
- Public RDS (private, hidden from the internet, is planned)
- MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB
- Storage autoscaling
- Automatically connect DB credentials to another service via environment variable.
- Deletion protection
As long as nothing goes awry, my whole team is going to be premiering our NEW logo and branding at

Let’s chat deployments, cloud, infra, and developer experience!
Yo, next month is going to be lit 🔥 for us! Overhauling ALL our UI, UX, and error messages + error help content.
This will be the defining moment of our visuals going from MVP to world class company.
And y’all gonna get things like metric graphs and cost info!

We finally support preview environments for static sites!!!
The last holdout, Redis for preview environments, is in final stages and will be shipping soon too!
Future releases of HashiCorp's core products will adopt the Business Source License. We know our community will have questions, so please read our blog post to understand why, and see our FAQs to understand the changes:
We’re building a Camry.
Simple, reliable, will last you a million miles.
We embrace you popping the hood to inspect, tweak, and upgrade.
We eschew simplistic Fischer-Price interfaces and expose all the things that make engineers happy.
Everyone wants to be a Ferrari, but there’s more money to be made in being a Camry.
It’s fun to be the Ferrari—you get to use the big words and impress everyone with your jargon.
But it PAYS to be the Camry—you get to abstract that complexity and help millions get from A to B.
I've just introduced new, simplified pricing!
❌ v1 - based on the AWS cost we manage
❌ v2 - $12/service + $0.45/deployment
✅ v3 - $25/service
Existing customers are currently grandfathered on previous plans, but let us know if you want the new pricing.
Welcome all y’all new followers this week!!
We launched over a year ago, have solid, steady growth of production customers, including series B companies.
We’re currently embarrassed by our design and UI/UX, but…
It’s crunch week for us!! Aiming to onboarding a few initial users by end of week, but there’s a lot to do 😬
We are super excited for this milestone!!
On day 1:
✅ Support any language/framework via custom Docker
✅ Support every AWS region
✅ Autoscaling
✅ Automatic CDN
You’re paying Heroku 4x for half the performance
Literally, no exaggerating!
A cheaper PaaS might be tempting, but you’ll eventually regret not moving to AWS
Migration to AWS w/ Flightcontrol can be done in days, no AWS expertise needed

🔐 Introducing RBAC, SSO, 2FA enforcement, and new low cost plan!
New low cost Starter plan
We heard your feedback that our pricing was a bit too much to start out. So we've introduced a new starter plan at $49/month. Also added detailed AWS costs to the pricing page.

With the us-east-1 Fargate service issues over the last 12 hours, this is your reminder that we recommend NOT using us-east-1 for production because it’s the region with the most failures.
It’s the oldest and the one they roll out new changes to first.
GitHub Container Registry support has landed!
GHCR joins DockerHub & ECR as our supported registries.
These registries are used by more advanced users who have their own build pipeline. Connect it to Flightcontrol, then trigger deploys with our deploy hook API.
We now support ECS+EC2, in preview!

This post from the orange site tracks with what little insider info I have. Basically that SF wants to spin down Heroku and merge into its offering. I don't think it will work and something I consider to be a core part of the internet, like SO or Wikipedia, will be dead :(
Yeah, we not playin! 😎
We're out here fighting to make AWS accessible to every developer through a DX and customer support that will make you think twice about using anything other than AWS/GCP/etc
@Flightcontrolhq
is pretty Awesome. Jumped on their Discord and posted a message. 5 minutes later I was on a Zoom with the CTO and migrated a AWS Copilot app over to Flightcontrol in 15-20mins.
We now support Redis for preview environments! 🎉
There's a single ElastiCache Redis server instance shared across all your PRs. Then it's automatically cleaned up when your PR is merged.
All our services now work in preview envs:
Server, Worker, Static Site, RDS, Redis!
Devops agency: $3,600/month
@Flightcontrolhq
: $600/month
same result.
Actually better with Flightcontrol because you get a dashboard with logs etc and preview environments.
@boristane
Two types of serverless:
1. Pure serverless, scales to 0 etc
2. Serverless as a mindset, don’t have to worry about OS patches etc. And of course Fargate falls into this one

🔥 Announcing RDS Databases for Preview Environments!🔥
✅ Each PR gets its own isolated database that lives for duration of the PR
✅ Cost optimized—all PRs use 1 RDS instance which contains all the PR-specific databases
✅ Fully automated / "just works"

Designed for startups and agencies, we give you the best of both worlds: the world-class DX of a Heroku-style PaaS and the full control and scalability of AWS.
How do you feel about the below headlines for our new website? 🤔
H1: The most delightful way to deploy anything to AWS.
H2: Don’t worry, zero AWS skills required. If you’re an AWS guru, we let you pop the hood to inspect and tweak to your heart’s content.
For me the silver lining in this whole Vercel situation is discovering game changing tools like
@Flightcontrolhq
and
@SST_dev
They make working with AWS a breeze, without the need to deal with their clunky UI
@rafalwilinski
Yes!! I love Fargate!! 😍
Btw, you should check out so you don't have to maintain a dockerfile. Most user's get faster builds and smaller image sizes than hand rolling a dockerfile.
More on how we think about containers vs functions here:
we’re now deep into design projects & will be upgrading all touch points over the next few months.
We have infinite runway, and we believe in our product and mission more than we ever have.
We have SO much goodness coming down the pipe.
We’re here to serve you, welcome aboard.
Building a startup around kubernetes is boring tbh. K8s is great, but like, there’s so much more interesting stuff you can do when you approach AWS holistically!
Get on board, we’re solving way bigger problems than k8s config! 😉 🚀
Why we aren’t using kubernetes.
Also, it has a base cost of $200/mo.
Likely we’ll add it in the future, but for most people AWS Fargate is a much better option.
We now have first-class docs for PHP, Python, and Ruby, including the most popular frameworks for each!
Thank you
@jefflinwood
for these!
What other docs would you like us to add?
I see some people like to spread out their infra on as many third party services as possible.
DB on one. Backend on another. Frontend on a third. Queues on a fourth.
Good way to degrade user performance and invite Murphy for dinner 😅
We want to squash our bugs, so we built an internal integration for uploading JavaScript source maps to
@getsentry
.
It was way too useful not to share with all of our users - here's how to upload source maps to Sentry when you use Flightcontrol.
- new user asks question in discord
- 20s later we respond
- after multiple back and forth, they say:
> I was also evaluating another tech which I could not get any support there no matter how hard I tried 😄
so this is really refreshing
Top-tier support is our superpower
🔥Customer seeing new dashboard🔥
"once you see this, you don’t want to go back to the old version, it looks really, really good!"
And in general:
"you made the day to day work so much easier... haven’t had a single down-time since using FC.. the value you get is really great"
Probably our greatest project yet: The new branding for
@Flightcontrolhq
. AI-created spaceships, hand-drawn backgrounds and a font with a sporty mode and an all-around awesome client.
If you need to deploy something fast, any combination of Vercel/Fly/Render/Supabase is hard to beat.
But if you want predictable, reliable operations, the SLAs provided by AWS/GCP/Azure are even harder to beat.
Choose your infrastructure wisely.
