Great turnout in Deeside today. Firefighters warning the public about the devastating cuts management have decided to implement in January ‘26. Let’s hope the Fire Authority take control of this situation + maintain the safety of Deeside and Rhyl residents. Well done Deeside!!

It’s nearly time for our respected Fire Authority to make that massive decision. The FBU trust and have faith that our FA will make that right decision. The Rhyl protest spoke volumes. Retired Ff’s, current Ff’s, Ff’s from Cheshire/Manchester, public from all over, it goes on…

‘We put protecting our communities at the very heart of everything we do’….except in Rhyl and Deeside. It is such a shame m’ment targeted the ‘emergency cover review’ against our busiest, largest, most industrial and in some areas, most deprived communities. @fbunational

This incident isn’t a ‘one off’.A family describes their experience of a rapid fire service response & subsequent rescue by a full time,24/7 crew.Under m’ment plans, this just won’t happen & there’ll be a huge increase in response times. Is it right to gamble with people’s lives?

1/2 Reality check. This firefighter is an integral part of their community. 90 hrs cover a WEEK! At the drop of a button, they’re there. An LGV driver, a breathing apparatus wearer, a lifesaver and a stalwart of their community. For £236/month….

The figures don’t lie!Special service calls UP 63%!Road traffic collisions UP over 42%!Why on Earth are managers proposing to downgrade stations or close them!It is insanity. This Service belongs to the public, not the managers! @BBCWalesNews

✅Day crewed (DC) shift start dates in place ✅Disturbance mileage expenses sorted ✅Explanations issued why Deeside will go DC the year after ✅7 staff informed to put transfers in if they wish to avoid changing to DC CFO has overstepped the mark. The FA must sort this and now.

No wonder irrational decisions are being made when the decision makers didn’t involve the FBU for 22 months. The workers Union. However unpalatable this may sound, this really is a publicity disaster for both management and the FA. @DylanWynRees

The consultation was commissioned by the FA with the intention of improving fire cover,if it returns with a loss of 5 stations, 22-74 jobs, fire engines + a downgrade of fire cover, has it achieved its objective?Last night the CFO laid the responsibility at the door of the FA.

2/2. The silence is deafening. Journalists continue to fill the void. No leadership anywhere to be seen. Welsh gov suggesting Millington met the ‘prerequisites’ to lead SWFRS yet doesn’t meet the promotional ‘universal criteria’ required for even a F’fighter applying for promo.

Please, please NWFRS tell us, what are the communities of Wrexham,Rhyl,Deeside, Conwy, Beaumaris, Llanberis,Abersoch and Cerrig getting for their additional £170/annum per household contribution? Surely it’s not station closures, loss of appliances and downgrading of stations??

Public Consultation event into the closure of Conwy fire station tonight, LL32 8LD. Let’s see if the panel will shut it down early like in Llanberis or have the courtesy to listen to all the communities questions, given people have taken the time and made the effort to turn out.

The graph demonstrates where savings could be made.NWFRS have the same Heads of Dept and Principal Officers as the 2nd largest FRS in GB.With 20 full time ff’s with under 12 months in the job,how is it we’re looking to shed 22 ff’s now? What’s gone wrong? …

Great to see Scottish Labour supporting FBU Scotland. It’s a great shame @WelshLabour can’t get behind their Fire Service. Fast becoming the party of cuts. We demand a proper consultation-one which includes a ‘growth’ option @WelshLabDeputy @MarkDrakeford @hannahblythyn

Here is Plaid Cymru’s @catwager discussing with Brigade Secretary Matt Ryan the potential for improvements in y/our Fire and Rescue Service. With a recent spate of incidents, it is important we do not let our FRS decline as it will not recover. Thanks Catrin⭐️ and Plaid (again).

🚒 Recently, I met with Matt, from the Fire Brigades Union, to find out more about what their options for growth could look like. Here's what he had to say. (Apologies for the poor sound) 👇 The consultation closes on Saturday. (1/2) #saveourfireservice

If you’ve completed the consultation or wish to complete it again as you weren’t happy with your decisions, here’s how we suggest you complete the questionnaire for options 1, 2 and 3. Why accept a reduction in service? Include FBU options 4 and 5!

Rhyl full time firefighters arrived in 5 minutes from time of call. Extinguished the blaze and stopped spread to adjoining properties. Under all Service cuts options, this 5 minute attendance will not happen leading to fire spread and loss of life.

CFO now states she wants to include a ‘growth option’ in the consultation. The Chair/FA Audit C’mitee rules out a growth option. The CFO does not give her professional support to Option 3. The FA then include Option 3 within the consultation. Is there a serious problem here?

Here is a great piece of work by FBU reps showcasing why Wrexham should not be downgraded to a one fire engine station. It’s dangerous, it’s not equality of fire cover and it will cost lives! @DylanWynRees @hannahblythyn
