Independent socialist writer/activist. Co-author Extinction Curve. Democratic ecosocialism. Political economy of climate emergency, class & national liberation.
An extinction code of exploitation of the natural & social world lies at the heart of the capitalist growth protocol
It makes rebelling for a green, fair capitalism a dead end
Net Zero 2050 & clean energy for endless growth are political placebos for the extinction course
Our choice is clear: accept greenwashing corporate ownership power & just nudge a glacial transition or form a progressive coalition to nationalise this power & implement real change
Dear Friends. Given Twitter's uncertain future, I wish to thank you for your interest and support for the book. Very much appreciated. I am working on a sequel, The Extinction Alternative, that will build upon the perspectives outlined and hopefully completed in late 2023.

Real, tangible, transformational hope is the convergence of necessity and possibility
We 99% are in deepening ecological & social wellbeing emergency
Now is the time to unite and fight for the extinction alternative
Ending fossil fuel is urgent but so is ending private ownership power, interests & 💰 growth imperative driving the climate emergency
The green transition must do both
'Green' capital is a sub branch of global corporate capital
"Oz as a clean energy superpower" is just spin for private interests & profit unless WE own & control the transition
The Oz 'greenslide' election is only a temp sigh of relief unless WE seize the moment & reverse 40y of NeoLib policies creating crises in ecological and social wellbeing
Ownership = core political power. Realising deeper forms of democracy STARTS with & from a platform of democratic public ownership of central levers of the economy
Dissent at privatised growth of eco and economic crises with tax & reg demands is not enough
Time to build a democratic alternative with broad coalition for public ownership
A fairer society and liveable ecology requires building a new political economy.
See our joint author blog, Stewardship & the Ownership Question, at Emerald Pub.
The gas/energy crisis in Aus, orchestrated by fossilised corporates and their govs., demands a coalition for democratic nationalisation of the green transition
Ending the eco-emergency requires common cause & action across our progressive silos. See my Dissent in the Contested (green) Transition, Green Agenda, Winter 2021
The Broad Left must meet the historical moment. Two urgent alliance tasks: Block the Ultra Right getting elected with strategic voting; Break cycle of Centrist corporate gov. with wide coalition for democratic public ownership alternatives to capitalist social & ecological crises
Ecological & cost of living crises reflect capitalist market success, not failure. Profits are soaring. Calls for more tax, regulation, competition, bailouts, are lame political bandaids. They mask, not challenge, the endless structural expansion of corporate power at our expense

The votes for real climate action in Australia and for United Left in France show that a progressive alternative to the authoritarian extinction curve is possible.
