Swim, steam, sauna. Scallops and red mullet. It would be a fine day with just that but as I left for my swim this morning, I had a letter through the door telling me that I do *not* have cancer (following a biopsy done during my operation last month). Grateful x a billion 🙏

Daughter reached for my hand as we went into pre-school. Normally she's running in, barely saying goodbye, so I was like - ah, she does love me. Then she wiped her hand on mine, ran off, and I looked down to find A SLUG on my palm.

I've asked several friends for their memories of being a kid in the mid 90s and the thing *everyone* seems to have been doing was recording songs off the radio onto tapes, and perfecting the skill of getting as little of the show host talking over the track as possible

Y'day I had to slam on the brakes when a boy stepped into the road in front of us. Bike toppled over, with my two kids on the back. (All fine! Apart from my back 😣) This morning, at the same junction, my 5yo patted me on the back and said: "Let's try this again, shall we?" 😂♥️

Parents bought me a “writing cardigan”. I love it so much I could wear it all the time but would probably get smeared w/ Weetabix & (my kids') snot so it is JUST for work. Also: each of these post-its now has a line through it... a veryveryvery sketchy draft 1 of book 3 is DONE

Still waiting to find out for sure if I can have my op but the lovely HCA has already asked me what I do for a living, ordered my books and got me to sign a blood sample sticker to put in her copies when they arrive. She’s also told everyone else on the ward to buy copies 😂

A doctor read If I Die Before I Wake & contacted me to say it changed the way she interacts with patients in a vegetative state. This was not something I ever expected could happen when I wrote this book. Entertain people? Maybe. Inspire debate? Sure. Make positive change? 🤯

I knew I was in trouble when I cried within the first 100 pages! @LauraSRobinson is a master storyteller and she excels herself with this Dickensian epic. Relentless twists, heartbreaking storylines and impeccable research. It doesn’t get much better than this 🙌 Out June 2023.

Received text from a friend this evening to tell me I was in the Sunday Times. Husband hurried out to buy a copy before the shop shut, then whole family joined in searching for my mention. 5yo: "I've found you, Mummy!" GOD BLESS HER.

The last few months = 😑. Family illnesses, my own poor health, not a lot of sleep - as a result, work has been crap. But now we're coming through the other side and I am SO GRATEFUL to have my 🖊️ mojo back. The joy of writing is one of the best feelings I've ever known. 🙏
