The price of a Shanghai number plate for ICE cars has shot up by £5k this week. It’s now £15k for a number plate. You have to be MAD to buy a petrol car in Shanghai. EV plates are still free (for now)

Today I am thinking about the eGolf. Simple, unfussy, lots of buttons and to be honest it's 99% of the EV that I need/want. Tart it up with some Golf GTI bits & smart wheels and I'm sold. About 7-8k GBP here. VW should just keep making these with better range.

I’m being mighty tempted to get this. It’s an electric refit of the old Maruti/Suzuki Alto built in China, to buzz around Shanghai in. It’s about £800 on the second hand market and about 150km of range (on a good day). This car is only about 3/4 years old.
