My mum in a care home, staring into the void.
I talk to her, she doesn't recognise me but says " you sound like my daughter "
I say "I am your daughter. " Then "who did you think I was?"
"Someone very kind" she said.

, not special or one of the chosen. This sort of talk is dangerous to all of us, especially those who are clinically vulnerable. They are not "cowering" they are being far more sensible and far less selfish than you are.

A huge special shout-out to my mum who narrowly lost Roche South by just TWO votes last night.
For the first time in many years, she has returned Labour to being a serious contender in Rochford.

It is heartbreaking. In the last years of her life my mum wasn't always sure who I was. One time she said "you sound just like my daughter" so I asked her who she thought I was. "Someone very kind" she said. X

That's what bugged me so much - the "as a woman" bit. She belittles women who have to deal with truly foul abuse and plays the victim when she is in fact the aggressor here. Gaslighting of the highest order.

Chipping Norton is not a village. It's a lively little town that has been known to vote Labour. Some outliers in some of the villages tend to be up themselves and if I ever recognise oakeshott (who she?) when out shopping in Chippy I'll glare at her soppy hair extensions.

Dear Saj. Far too many "preventable " conditions are caused by poverty. Bad housing, insecure income, fuel poverty all contribute to ill health. How are you planning to deal with those?

We inherited this one with a very weird water feature. Newts and dragon flies love it though so does the pond weed. It was truly boring when we moved in, but with some planting and just letting things be, it's joyful.

It isn't "trashing". Please don't use such emotive language. The money isn't there . And if you read what Labour is saying this isn't a U turn, it's a pragmatic response to the Tories salting the earth. If you can afford another 5years of Tory just keep on keeping on.

We cannot be complacent about defending our values from the toxic psychodrama that the Conservative party represents. Too many have fallen for the idea that it is kind and virtuous to impose authoritarian views whilst bleating (baaa) about freedom.

At a street stall yesterday (in Chipping Norton !) I asked some no deal brexiters if they would be prepared to go to the back of the queue if there was rationing. 3 said they would be proud to. So that solves the shortages problem then.

I'm 71. Today I have been told that when I need it there will be very little care support. I've also been told that the gvt can have a peek at my bank account....but also that my pension is really a benefit and given I'm only old and not disabled I should feel guilty. Huh.
