Last week EPPD officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle, which then fled into Shakopee. Occupants of the car fled on foot. K9 Jax searched the area & located a suspect hiding in a cargo van at a dealership. Good boy, Jax! 🚨 🐶

Last night EPPD received a 911 call regarding an incident at McDonald’s. The reporting party mentioned a large group of people causing a disturbance & that one individual displayed a gun before leaving the restaurant. EPPD is investigating.
Yesterday, EPPD Community Service Officer Serena Haglin rescued several ducklings that had fallen down a storm drain. She returned them to mama duck who was waiting nearby.

Recently an anonymous donor contacted the EP Crime Prevention Fund requesting to make a donation to purchase bulletproof vests for EPPD’s 2 canines, Jax & Gus. The vests arrived & the K9s have begun wearing their newest pieces of equipment. Thank you to whomever donated!
Eden Prairie Police were called to Scheels in Eden Prairie Center at approximately 7:25 p.m. on the report of a shot fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered one deceased adult male. The area has been secured. There is no danger to the public. More information to come.

Early this morning, EPPD Ofc. Pantelis responded to a car vs. deer crash. The driver was uninjured, but the car was not drivable. The driver was working for

, but now was unable to complete the delivery. Ofc. Pantelis completed the delivery to a neighboring city.
Earlier this week, officers responded to a kindergartner who was stung 23 times by bees while at school. Her teacher was stung 14 times trying to save her.
We were very excited to welcome Arabella back to school today. She has been incredibly brave!
Last Fri. morning EPPD officers visited EPHS to hand out candy bars to students they “caught” wearing their seatbelts on their way to school. Officers handed out approximately 400 candy bars & didn’t find a single student who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt!

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on 11/21/18, EPPD arrested Lloyd Edward Johnson, 55, of EP under probable cause for 2nd degree assault. Johnson is in custody at the Hennepin Co. Adult Detention Center.
We are continually monitoring the events in Minneapolis and St. Paul and are in contact with our neighboring cities. This evening we will have extra officers on patrol. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911.

Update: Missing Person Investigation
At 7:53a today, EPPD received the report of a body of an adult male located along Hennepin Town Rd., north of Pioneer Trail, fitting the description of missing person Mike Elhard. No signs of foul play, but investigation is on-going.

In response to the continued unrest in the Twin Cities & out of an abundance of caution, Eden Prairie Mayor Ron Case has declared a temporary curfew beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 30, through 6 a.m. Sunday, May 31, and 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, through 6 a.m. Monday, June 1.
Today is Officer Christine Fietek’s last day w/ EPPD after serving as an officer for 22 years. In addition to working in patrol, she also served as a member of the Crime Technician Unit, the Juvenile Diversion Unit & the CIT/Mental Health Unit.

Today is the last day at EPPD for Officer Kevin White. Officer White started with the department in 1993 as a Park Ranger and was hired as an officer in 1994.

At approximately 12:45pm this afternoon, the EPPD was notified of a possible threat to a student at EP High School. The school is currently in lockdown while police are investigating the credibility of the threat. More info will be provided as we learn more.

On 12/29, an impaired driver fled from officers in his vehicle, then on foot. EPPD K9 Jax was called to track the suspect. Within minutes, Jax picked-up the suspect's scent & led officers to where the suspect was hiding. The suspect quickly surrendered.

Yesterday, Eden Prairie Police Officers and Eden Prairie Fire Fighters helped rescue a dog named Bodhi from the ice on Staring Lake. We are happy to tell you that Bodhi is doing great. Thank you to the first responders for getting there so quickly.
Some calls are udderly ridiculous. Yesterday, our Animal Control Officer helped moove 3 cows back to a farm after they got loose. The cows hoofed it over a mile, but we were able to herd them back safely.
FYI. Twin Cities Summer Jam is happening tonight and tomorrow night at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. Sometimes the noise carries into Eden Prairie. If you hear Carrie Underwood tonight or Zac Brown Band tomorrow night in your neighborhood, that is why.

After 33 years of service, today is Capt. Bill Wyffels’ last day at the EPPD.
Earlier today at his retirement celebration, he received the department’s Career Achievement Award from Chief Matt Sackett.

This morning one of EPPD’s earliest officers passed away. Sgt. Jim Matson started with the department on 7/1/74, exactly 1 year after the founding of the department. He was promoted to sergeant in 1983 & retired on 7/1/96.
