DB: Really proud of this album and dont think there is one filler to be honest, really glad whenever i talk to fans how much they think of it x

IB (ID) - The EMF sound started when James and I sat down at my Mum’s piano (Thanks Mum!) I bashed out the house piano and James screamed ‘I Believe’ and the EMF sound was born.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
UNB (JA) - The song brings back memories of that first real tour with Adamski in the back of a transit van. We got pulled over by the police for opening the backdoors and launching fireworks down the fast lane of the M6. We were such little tykes
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
EMF (JA) - (1/2) We had so much arrogance and swagger, telling everyone we were the greatest band around (long before Noel and Liam piped-up).
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
ADMIT (JA) - The first 10 songs we wrote made it on to SD, we never had hundreds of songs to choose from as the band happened very quick. We use to pad out the live set in the early days with a cover of Tone Loc’s ‘Funky Cold Medina’

ID: People have often commented on how they started listening to Unbelievable and Schubert Dip as young pop fans and were drawn along with us to the heavier sound of Stigma. I believe it is the fans’ favourite album.
ADMIN: It is.

IB (JA) - Probably the most expensive song we ever recorded once we had paid for the studio damage, one trashed BMW and the legal fees. Great work DB, it was all worth it in the end
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
UNB (ID) - (1/2) Also true that it was about my ex-girlfriend. As were all the songs I wrote then. I was feeling a bit upset about the breakup but James, Derry, Zac, and Mark were the perfect therapy.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
CHILDREN (JA) - Children was very much a band creation, bashed out by the five of us in a damp Gloucestershire rehearsal room.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
IB (JA) - This intro still haunts me and takes me right back to that crazy night at Mayfair Studios. We’d discovered that we could score acid from this club in Chalk Farm – it was a recipe for disaster

Thank you to everyone for coming to our Listening Party.
We are thrilled to finally be able to share the very (very!) long awaited new album with you.
We will see you on the road in April and at festivals over the summer. LLTNF!

LONG (JA) - Great outro to an album, we use to finish the live sets with this song before launching into an encore of E-xtc, etc…
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
UNB (ID) - (2/2) We just went out and had fun and made music and I got over it pretty quick. Maybe too quick. I should have written a few more of those songs.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Alan Bennet (the legendary playwright) was the first to hear this song. I was playing the demo on my phone in the village shop where we often chat together. The conversation is usually about potatoes.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
TNR (JA) - Intro dialogue sample from The Hollow Men by TS Eliot (that defo came from Ian) We loved spoken word samples; very much a thing of the time taking advantage of the new accessible sampling technology that was around
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
TNR (ID) - I worked at BBC Radio Gloucestershire and could get anything from their archives. I would make intro tapes for our gigs with dark poems like this over The Banana Splits.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
GIRL (JA) - Poptastic – I wrote the lyrics about a girl I was perusing at the time. Although my wife now points out that it sounds a bit pervy
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
WYM (JA) - Bongo’s and wah wah guitar – defo influenced by our love of the Stone Roses. People in the US always presumed we were part of that MCR scene – no we were part of that FOD scene
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
LONG (JA) - Ian on vocals – god I love him, I always move over to his side of the stage and share a microphone with him on this bit.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
GIRL (JA) - Zac was convinced that the opening Sesame Street sample was actually Ian Dench talking. I’m not sure we ever got clearance on that sample?
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
ID: We chose the name Stigma because we felt we had been unfairly stereotyped as a ‘pop' band. The way those nails are hammered into that sculpture resonated. The music we wrote was our way of being ourselves.
