Ivy Smith, 97, had her #CovidVaccine this morning at WHH. “They called me yesterday and I was quite excited about it. “When I was young they didn’t have vaccines like this so I am very lucky. “I think I’m the oldest person having it today but I’m young at heart.”

From nursing children with tuberculosis on verandas, to caring for victims of an IRA bomb attack, there isn’t much Val Ellis hasn’t seen in her 64-year NHS career. The grandmother started at 15 and finally hung up her uniform last week at the age of 79.

Colleagues, friends and family of Dr Habiba ‘Bee’ Hajallie planted a tree in her memory at the William Harvey Hospital. Bee, who worked with the frailty team at the hospital, died in a car accident while on her way to work in October. Read more:
