Terje Rypdal turns 75 today. His relationship with ECM dates back to 1970, when he was part of Jan Garbarek’s 4-tet on Afric Pepperbird. In 1971 Manfred Eicher suggested Rypdal to record his own album, thereby beginning one of ECM’s most fertile & lasting collaborations.
