Unless one side does something aggressive towards Malaysia, Malaysia will just stay neutral and out of it really and besides if the current political situation persists, both government and opposition will be too busy fighting each other to bother

If the US and China go to war, whose side is Southeast Asia on?

Keep in mind that the Malaysian Armed Forces in this situation are there to aid existing civil agencies who are in charge and handling the situation so it could be the assessment is that no need to bring the boats down to KL as needed elsewhere and won't be in time if so
