To the small but loud group saying Michigan's win yesterday wasn't impressive, PSU is 5th in SP+ and the highest ranked team to lose at home. So arguably, it was actually the most impressive win by any team this year (I'd give it to Texas over Bama, but you get the point).

As OSU-Rutgers further reveals, the primary reason OSU fans are so invested in Michigan being banned from the Big Ten Championship Game or CFP is because they know what is going to happen in Ann Arbor on Nov. 25. If they felt confident OSU would win, they wouldn't care as much.

Raising this point again: if Michigan had scheduled a MAC team instead of Notre Dame, Michigan would still have an outside shot at making the CFP. Until the committee changes its ways, don't schedule tough non-conference opponents. The risk of losing is not worth the reward.

In 2014, OSU lost by 14 to VT at home in Week 2 before winning BIG and national titles. In 2016, PSU started 2-2 and suffered a 39-point loss to Michigan before winning B1G. I'm not saying U-M will win the Big Ten. But let's not conclude that the season is already over.

Michigan-MSU may have had the best NCAAB rivalry this year. On KenPom, MSU ( #3 ) is higher than Duke ( #4 ). U-M ( #6 ) is higher than UNC ( #7 ). MSU beat Duke. U-M beat UNC. Both U-M and MSU played for a title in two of their three games. Wasn't the case in any Duke-UNC game.

Michigan is 1st nationally in total defense, allowing 216.2 yards per game. 2nd place allows 264.7 yards per game. That's a difference of 48.5 yards per game. The difference between 1st and 2nd is greater than the difference between 2nd and 15th.
