The Byculla zoo (Jijamata udyan) is more than just a zoo - it's a zoo+botanical garden+museum rolled into one. In fact, it started as a botanical garden in 1862. Bhau Daji Lad Museum and the zoo were added in 1872 and 1890 respectively. A🧵 on things beyond animals at the 'zoo'

India is not a medical data-rich country. However, Covid-19 is an exception because detailed data for every test and every patient is submitted to the govt. Yet, the health authorities do not release this data for Indian doctors and researchers to use.
Uterine leiomyosarcoma is a topic close to heart, having seen many unsuspecting women (& the Drs) suffer after morcellating a presumed fibroid which turned out to be LMS. This statement from

The video starts with the MSKCC doctor stating that cancer needs subspecialized care. That is indeed very true. MSKCC is an excellent cancer center & a second opinion from it does provide reasurrance, if nothing else, to those who can afford it. However,

My 36-weeks pregnant wife has now been asked to undergo a weekly throat swab for covid, as it's unpredictable when she may go into labour. How common is this practice? Why not do a rapid antigen instead plus the swab whenever she goes into labour?

The worst consequence of the polypharmacy is that Indians spend over a 100x more on 'treating' mild covid than their western counterparts, and that some actually worsen due to early steroid being part of many regimens. Do read my piece with

Afraid you are mistaken. Mumbai has a sero prevalence of 60% in the slums. It's not that Indians didn't get it. It's that we were mainly asymptomatic and didn't test and so the numbers are low. Why the low virulence? Most likely due to prior exposure to other viruses is my hunch.

joins me in episode 261 of The Seen and the Unseen to describe how examining data made her see so much that was, well, unseen:
Many TIL moments about India in this episode, & in her book.
Essentially what
@virsanghvi
is saying is that in the process of more and more Hindus hating Muslims for whatever reasons, the haters are also gradually converting their 'beloved' Hinduism more and more similar to the radical Islam they profess to hate.
My Column:The shameful persecution of Munawar Faruqui & the bogus controversy over Tandav are ploys to tell Hindus that Hinduism is under attack & that the BJP will defend it.
It’s a strategy that maulvis once used. Spread lies & then pose as protectors.
How true. For many in India, service is unfortunately equivalent to servitude.
