/ Chris Mullin. Tough break for James Wiseman. Shared my general thoughts about what this means in the context of a prior meniscus repair for the young man.

The Draymond punch. Curry with 2 injuries. The absence of Wiggins. Wiseman’s trade. Poole’s inconsistent performances. Andre’s wrist fracture. The loss of Mike Brown. Two timelines. An aging core…..The Warriors have had to deal with a lot this season.
Can you imagine the emotions Klay will feel when he steps back on the court again to play a real NBA game? The mental toll it has taken on him can’t be quantified.
We will never know 100% for sure but when I looked at the video of Ja Morant it would be hard to imagine Poole causing a serious injury to his knee. It looks like Ja landed awkwardly before (and earlier in the game). It’s the same knee he had issues with in the past.

People have a tendency to forgot that Curry’s ankles were thought to be an issue that would linger / derail his NBA career. For an athlete to transform their body, and an overcome a chronic issue to become one of all-time greats is remarkable.

Klay Thompson is averaging more points, assists, and rebounds this season than his career averages. Simply remarkable given his age and injury history.
Klay suffered 2 major injuries that are career altering for many players, but he returned to the NBA & won a ring. He is now facing a decline that comes with age after having battled back from so much (and succeeded). It can't be easy but he can still contribute.

Tomorrow, Klay Thompson will be at the 9 month mark after Achilles surgery. The next 3 months are about building back muscle that has been lost while the tendon healed; particularly through explosive activities like jumping / pivoting with eventual live practice.

Steve Kerr deserves a tremendous amount of credit: starting GP2, navigating the game without Draymond, and dealing with foul trouble for his starters. Yes, the players executed as well but Kerr adapted on the fly.
-Wiseman: traded to Detroit
-Poole: punched by Green, play regresses
-Kuminga: no playing time in playoffs
-Moody: major playoff contributor but no regular season time
The two timelines didn’t work out as planned
Stephen Curry's tailbone injury is likely fully healed by now (a little over 12 weeks since his injury against Houston). In case anyone was wondering on a Friday night at 953 pm. 😀

Justin Fields is an elite multi-sport athlete (like Wilson/ Mahomes) w/ a phenomenal academic record who was recruited by the Ivy League, has no orthopedic injury red flags, no off field issues, and played well at a large elite program. Sounds like the right pick to me.

GP2 could have decided to sit out the rest of the season with a broken elbow, but he battled back. Looney played every game even with an extensive injury history, and never took a night off. This is the culture that the Warriors need to preserve as they defend their title.
Stephen Curry has played 27,366 minutes in his career (equivalent of ~ 19 days straight of basketball). There will be some natural physical/performance ups and downs after that much mileage.
Klay Thompson is now a little past 7 months after his Achilles repair. In general, athletes can do most basketball movements at this time but intensity and volume are controlled. The next few months concentrate on assessing movement patterns / biomechanics.

Klay Thompson is nearing the 6 month mark for surgery which means we should see him running soon. Although
#DubNation
would like to see him suit up for the playoffs, he is still several months away from playing anything close to a live game for the

.

Last night, Kevon Looney covered 12,699 feet in 32 minutes, Stephen Curry covered 14,246 feet in 37 minutes. Looney = 396.8 ft/min, Curry = 385 ft/min. Kevon Looney covered MORE ground per minute than Stephen Curry last night. 🤯

Klay Thompson last played an NBA basketball game 26 months ago. We are hopefully only a couple of months away from seeing him back with Curry, Green, and Iguodala. 🤞

This is where the mental part of coming off 2 major injuries manifests itself. The physical pain is gone, & the rehab is just a grind. The desire to simply a play game you have dreamed your entire life for at the highest level has been taken away.

Charles Barkley’s career ended after he ruptured a quadriceps tendon. Klay returned to a high level in the NBA to help a team win a championship after 2 back to back injuries that could have been career ending. It’s a shame Barkley doesn’t recognize what Klay has done.
Great to see

jumping/elevating on his repaired Achilles whose function is to allow push off during walking/running/jumping. More basketball specific activity is a good sign. His landing on his left leg also shows good stability from his prior ACL.

The excitement for Klay Thompson continues to build. It’s important to take a second to recognize the significance of what he has done to get here: return from 2 major career-threatening injuries to start on a title contending

team after 2.5 years away.

I grew up in Chicago watching Micheal Jordan during the Bulls championship run. What Stephen Curry did yesterday is right with if not exceeds anything I ever saw Jordan do in an individual playoff game to will a team to victory.

The coverage of Brock Purdy this season is a larger reflection of how many people now consume sports media; centered on hyperbole and desire for engagement. Thoughtful, balanced, and nuanced analysis is increasingly becoming a thing of the past.
I know it was just a preseason game but for Jordan Poole to come out and perform that way after all the national attention the past few days……simply remarkable.
Thanks to

for bringing this clip to my attention. This is the type of direct impact to the knee that can cause bursitis to develop in an athlete.

Moses Moody does everything that a coach would want: always in the right spot, hustles, plays defense, is never rattled by the moment, and hits the open shot…….
@realStanVG
Players are coming into the league with significantly more wear and tear on their bodies from playing year-round basketball and specializing at younger and younger ages. This wasn’t a trend in the 90’s.
