Roger made the decision about retiring a few days after Wimbledon. There was no progress with the knee. He hesitated to go to Wimbledon for the jubilee but he had that Sunday off. He was relieved that he went there and that there was no close filming of him. He was very emotional

Roger mentioned in an interview with 🇨🇭 journalists that he is surprised how well he hits the ball. But it was clear that he won't play singles. He doesn’t have this option. He will most likely play doubles on Friday. Borg agreed with this.

As I currently have to read again how fortunate Roger has been to be injury free basically until the end of his career, I just want to remind that he had his back issues from early on in his career. In Wimbledon 2003 he benefitted from longer rain delays to work on his back pain.

Roger mentioned that he would have been sad in the beginning, then there would have been repression. Writing the letter would have been a process, it would tear you up a bit but it would have been extremely good for him. That's why he would be able to give interviews now.

Dear Julien, Roger is the player who has played most DC matches amongst the top players. It's not his job to save DC. You have the ITF for doing this. Laver Cup is a great addition to tennis. The players like it, media and fans.
