It’s 2021 and I’m still seeing people blame their racist statements on sedatives and substances. To be clear: There is no medication that “produces” racist thoughts. What is actually occurring is disinhibition. This distinction is important.

My plans - Don’t wear a mask as I walk to my car (I’d like to be less “threatening”). I pin my hosptial ID to my left shoulder while driving. This will allow anyone who pulls me over to see my title first and hopefully I can use that privilege to leverage my life.

The role of privilege in these new cases of #COVID19 is abundantly clear. There is no ICD-10 code for “admission as a precaution.” I’m genuinely happy that care is available - I just wish we could say the same for all patients.

Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane. Half of the articles in Annals of Internal Medicine are pushing for gun control. Most upsetting, however, the medical community seems to have consulted NO ONE but themselves.

Another comment I often hear after patients test positive for #COVID is: “I don’t understand, I always get tested?” or “My partner always gets tested, and has been negative.” — Testing by proxy or as a sole method of prevention does not work in any format.
