Wonderful news for David Andrews and his family. Once an athlete is stabilized and a good level of anticoagulation (blood thinning) is achieved with IV meds, patients can be transitioned to oral (or sometime injectable) meds and sent home with outpatient follow-up. Good sign.

A young man suffered what appeared to be a cardiac event this evening. He immediately received CPR, was transported to an ER. The one comfort that any medical person can offer is that he is a young athlete who got immediate CPR/AED. Pray/hope those things make the difference. 💛

Update: Around 24 hrs after my 2nd vaccine, I got flu-like symptoms. Body aches, mild headache, temp creeping up but not a fever. I still had to function with the kids so I took some Ibuprofen. Feel much better now. Just want to share an honest experience with you all. 💪

My experience with the #CovidVaccine : I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine 3 wks ago. My only symptom was a sore arm for about 12 hrs. My second dose was yesterday afternoon. My arm is still a little sore and I’m a bit tired, but otherwise well. Remote school duty today!

#Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis injured his left ankle in the 3Q of game 2. He tore the flexor retinaculum of his inner ankle, which is a small band of tissue that holds, among other things, the tibialis posterior tendon in place, causing the tendon to pop out of its groove.

Blood clots in the lungs are called pulmonary emboli. They’re dangerous because they stop the lungs from exchanging oxygen and CO2. Treatment includes blood thinners, which increase the risk of bleeding internally while playing football. More in a few. #Patriots #DavidAndrews

If the NFL votes for daily testing of its players, the breakdown of weekly testing of major pro sports leagues will look roughly like this: NFL - 40,320 tests/wk MLB - 10,000 NBA - 8,700 NHL - 8,700 MLS - 5,000 That's 73,000 tests/wk for a chance at pro sports.

The photo on the right is a test for a UCL tear. I'm worried that it was positive. The fact that he was ruled out immediately without an xray and doesn't even want to try to grip a football is concerning for a full-thickness (unstable) tear. Those require surgery.
