Clearly I’m not instinctively sympathetic to the DUP in any respect. However, @SuzyJourno ‘s insights this morning around “pressure” coming from hardliners applied to DUP reps does require concern from everyone who wants a normal, peaceful society here. Menace is not welcome.

@AlexKane221b Respectfully, Alex, so what? All of electoral nationalism is opposed to partition. The sovereign parliament has enacted the consequences of the Brexit overwhelmingly demanded, advocated and even sponsored by Unionism. They can’t stomach a Catholic/Nat FM, which is the real issue.

@irish_news @AlexKane221b At the risk being hurtful to those in NI who cherish British identity, I found over many years living in Britain that Ulster Unionism’s conception of Britishness is entirely alien to the British. I think this gulf is only widening, and the DUP’s antics just reinforce alienation.
