My beta reader just said the couldn’t read any more of my book because it was too dark. I don’t know how to feel about this. I warned them of the triggers… I feel terrible. They even quoted scripture to me to try and erase the darkness.

If you’re a debut author, looking for an agent, does the first book need to end? What if it’s a duology? All MCs have stakes in the beginning and by the end they figure out how to achieve them. But they don’t actually achieve them till book two. Is that a deal breaker?

If you’ve had your manuscript developmentally edited do you say that in your query letter? On one had I want the agents to know how much I’m willing to put into my work but on the other hand I don’t want agents to wonder if I suck without them. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense.

🏳️‍🌈Random question. I really want to go to this conference where I can pitch agents. It’s on the day of pride parade. I don’t want to do my make up twice. Plus I’ll be in a rush. So would it be inappropriate to where Pride makeup in my interview with the agents??

One full week of vacation. I have nothing to do but make my manuscript sparkle! But first to start off my vacation I watched a lovely Disney movie, went to Taste of Texas to celebrate my mom and am starting a book from a friend to read at bedtime. @LeahMBrock

At 13, my mom told me to write a book to get ungrounded. She gave me the premise, “Girl in love with deep secret.” I turned it into a YA dark thriller, to heal from my past. 28, I finished it. After finishing I thought I would burn it. (1/2) #WritingCommunity #amquerying #agents
