I'm slowly becoming convinced that ArcSys aren't able to effectively lab HC
It's the only reason I can see for why each set of changes he gets just makes him stronger
welp.
beats dp, beats white wild assualt, is yrc proof, doesn't build them tension to super until after the throw if they dont fd, you cant press a button to hit me out of the loop. its an actual checkmate off of roundstart.

WA grants Baiken access to j.d conversions off of starters that she used to really struggle with
Basically any tatami launch where we could get 5k / 2s but no kabari can now lead to a WA
I will accept the EU can't lab allegations only if it becomes common practice for Devs to give the UK a playable build of a new game before anyone else
I want everyone to sit through bri'ish accents spreading fake news at least 3 times a year it's too funny
I feel like the 9Moons tourney getting endorsed by ASW and promptly sunk by Hackerman is the canon event that will see the issue fixed
Let's hope this sacrifice is not in vain
Roundstart WA conversions off of f.s ch, 2h ch and 2h regular hit
Has the least variance in routing between the three IMO
Additionally, it's quite easy to select between uncharged and charged on ch - just input tap WA, and if you see ch, tap again and hold it

tk yzs -> frc -> j.h -> tk yzs might still have some use...
On some characters you can just get 5k -> j.d / j.s -> j.d for free, but I think this is most corner carry you can get

, I didn't say this to many people but top 8 at a US major was secretly my goal for this trip and I'm so happy I actually made it
Thanks to everyone in EMEA for the support and messages over the weekend
I'll catch y'all at Brussels Challenge 👺
YZS changes
- YZS now blows back dramatically on hit in front. Cross-up unchanged
- tk yzs no combo in corner meterless, IABD yzs has meterless wallbreak
- tk yzs Ch leads to 5h tether in corner
- IAD j.s -> YZS / double overhead combos into 2s kabari but is tight

for Guilty Gear Strive
I think I can truly say I really played at my best for a lot of this tournament and really happy with how I performed
Tonight is pint night in Birmingham, we'll see what tomorrow brings
With some encouragement from others, I've started a GoFundMe for my travel costs to
#EVO2023
!
If I'm really going to give it my all, I really want to go EVO for what will likely be the biggest Guilty Gear Strive bracket we're going to have
Now CEO is over, it's unlikely at this point that I'll be able afford attending
#evo2023
That being said, if there is any sponsor that would be interested in helping me get there and being represented at Brussels Challenge, VSF and beyond, please reach out!
We made top 24 winners side at
#EVO2023
Honestly have no idea how I'm playing this well
if you told me this morning that I would beat Goldlewis, Testament and Faust this morning, I would laugh at you
We must go further
After coming 17th last year at
#VSF
, my first GG major, I could see the huge gap between myself and those who beat me
A year later at
#VSFXI
, after practice, travel, and however many events, I've made it to top 8
It feels good man
We finally got the W
I also think this is probably the best I've handled my energy levels and emotions during a bracket, especially going into Top 8 and during losers and grands
I'm looking forward to this tournament season 👺
Bit of context for FGC folks regarding JSO action
In the UK, many forms of civil disobedience, esp. those which target infrastructure (i.e. blocking roads) are now criminalised under the Public Order Act
Organizations like XR and Insulate Britain popularized these tactics
Even with the 9th, huge thank you
@Fly_Fighters
for setting me up with $200 prize money at
#evo2023
Awesome to see an org supporting players across all games who make it far but miss out on the pot 👺
Despite my placement, UFA truly is one of my favourite events in the FGC calendar
Same as last year, getting to catch-up with and meet so many heads from the EMEA scene was awesome
Half of top 8 looking like a SaltyEU bracket is a testament to how sick our region is
If I'm being honest, the Baiken changes mainly affect scrubby Baiken play (meterless 2nd hit kabari, meterless YZS)
I'm slightly annoyed that there doesn't seem to be anything positive other than maybe 5h being a little bigger, but WA is going to be awesome for her
And so, the age of youzansen spam had ended.
For too long, the bladed overhead had oppressed the people.
But then, rose a crueler, more chaotic mistress.
Thus began the age of tether spam.
Out 9th at
#evo2023
I can't say that it isn't bittersweet being knocked after being so close in two games, but I went much further than I ever expected
I can't say what lies ahead for me in GG other than VSF, but EVO has been incredible
#VSFXI
is over, and with it my stretch of serious competition for the year
Will be playing some S3, but I likely won't travel outside the UK for any events, or train for the rest of 2023
Out at 17th - I had a feeling that I would get up this morning and die so it is what it is
Still crazy pleased with my performance overall - just makes me think that more EMEA players should travel to US majors
And with that, my first EVO is finished
Was awesome to come out here with a bunch of EMEA goats, see the NA folks over the summer just gone, and to get a chance to play at this level of the game
I don't know when I'll be back to try again, but I definitely want to come back
Woke up this morning to find that the GoFundMe is already more than 66% funded after not even a day, what is actually happening
EMEA is such an insane scene, you're all crazy and you're all my goats
Thank you so much for the support 😭
Combo Breaker 2023 was awesome, and never expected to get as far as I did - but the grind doesn't stop here!
I'm going to be staying in Chicago from now until CEO - playing offlines, streaming and doing tourist stuff occasionally
Please reach out for games NA folks!
The Prime Minister is seeking to criminalize people protesting in favour of a ceasefire
In particular because they did it on ARMISTICE day
It's honestly such cruel satire that you couldn't make it up
I had an awesome time at
#CEO2023
It was great to meet and hang out with more of the US Strive scene (especially the Baiken bros 👺) and made all the sweeter by making the top 8 placement

really was something special - I'm gonna remember some of these matches for the rest of my life
Actually this is cap - this is really good
The ability to do loads of damage while preventing wallsplat is insanely good, as wallsplat now restores loads of burst
It's going to be really optimal to be able to kill your opponent without wallbreaking them
The idea that getting second place at one major means no qualification, but second place at the LCQ does is crazy
It should be a 4th points-based qualification spot
We have just been informed about the update for the Arc World Tour.
Due to TempestNYC winning CEOtaku back in September, the qualification spot for Fighters Sprit will now move down to the Last Chance Qualifier.
Meaning, the top 2 players in the LCQ will advance to the finals.
@classiclib3ral
@RuairiWood
Yeah this is something that really baffles me
We typically dislike people for their behaviours and views on the world - sometimes it can be petty and other times it can be valid
This equivocation is so intellectually paper-thin it just reveals the grift underneath
Wallbreaking with wild assault is OP if you can safejump after wallbreak
"Oh they have burst, guess I'll super knockdown them and lock out their burst so they have to guess for game"
Honestly bonkers
Chipp Zanuff's Resshou special move is -4 on block, making it safe to use in pressure.
However, it can also be canceled into a high or a low with variable timing
This means Chipp can create some pretty tricky pressure situations - what a cool character!
Everyone seems to be in take posting mode about Strive because they're not playing the game until S3 but can't stop thinking about it
Maybe I should just start posting very milquetoast opinions on the timeline
Breakdown of Baiken's performance in each aspect of MU for each character
All MUs under "requires finesse" usually have some aspect of the MU which is losing and requires playing around to make even (usually neutral or defence)
Reflecting on CEO, I'd actually really like it if tournaments published extra info about how they're running the stream
I would've liked to know beforehand that there was no button check in round, and that I couldn't wear my own headphones in top 8 so I wasn't caught off-guard
This game is HILARIOUS rn
As soon as both players burst, it's back to normal
But if both have 50 burst, it's just insane
Absolutely unhinged patch I love it
