When Claire became a werewolf a year and a half ago, she only knew the wolves that had made and abandoned her. Now, with a letter inviting her to meet the mother of the man who made her a wolf, everything she knew is about to change.

I hadn't been PLANNING on doing anything in regards to the early

I started transitioning in 2016. I was 41 years old. I knew I couldn’t live that lie a day longer. It was the scariest thing I’d ever done and the hardest.
And also the best.
Keep going. ❤️

Some would prefer that I keep politics OUT of my comic strip, but it's a comic about my life as a transgender woman, and it's hard to not be political when they keep pushing to make it a crime for me to exist. Never been gladder that we left Florida. Sucks we can't go back.
@assumptionprime
I suspect (hope) we will get that mid-range where her physique changes a bit based on her level of exertion (and pissed-offedness). Lots of artists have shown her getting bigger and more ripped when using more strength as needed, such as these shots from the same Byrne issue.
@RealLyndaCarter
As a transgender woman, I can attest that this is EXCEEDINGLY true. I still have a little scar over my eye from falling off a bed doing this as a little kid after watching new episodes. 🏳️⚧️💜
So, the
#TERFS
and
#conservatives
want to
#BoycottHersheys
for choosing a
#transgender
woman to be featured on a candy bar wrapper. What an utter surprise. This is my surprised face, while I'm suddenly craving some chocolate. Go fig. ;)
Happy
#transgenderawarenessweek
! Yes, I am a
#transgender
woman. Which is to say I'm a woman and
#trans
is a description not unlike just saying "tall" or "brunette". Enjoy my silly
#webcomic
that's occasionally about being trans, but is mostly about pets, boobs & comics.
Felt like doodling for no reason other than fun, and I am super excited for
#Nimona
on
#Netflix
from the awesome
@Gingerhazing
, so here it goes. Only took about 10 minutes on it and the proportions are off, but I enjoyed doodling it. Such a fun character and design.
Continuing on with some more fan art, here's a piece I did for the comic strip Rosebuds by Dee Parson! It's a really fun strip!
This was actually drawn a few months ago, but I really need to make some more fan art for the comics I'm enjoying
I'm not saying that
@RealLyndaCarter
's
#WonderWoman
wasn't an inspiration in my realizing my true

at a young age, but I don't have a scar over my eye from NOT pretending to transform into her & hitting my head on the dresser. ;)

I didn't write Wonder Woman, but if you want to argue that she is somehow not a queer or trans icon, then you're not paying attention.
Every time someone comes up to me and says that WW helped them while they were closeted, it reminds me how special the role is.
Message aside, this was a fun opportunity to draw silly versions of cartoon me, which is always a thing I will do.
"Dee, want to draw yourself as a triceratops and a dragon?"
Yes, please. Lol
@TheLetterTen
My biggest fear was based on the idea of "passing*. I was terrified that since I'm tall, wide chested and overall... Big... that I could never pass. Took decades to accept that "passing* wasn't a requirement.
From everything else we see in the film, I get the feeling that all
#Bruno
ever said to the townsfolk was stuff like "Another Goldfish? They sure don't live too long, do they?" and they all just freaked out, shouting

As we enter a new, NEW year since I drew this strip, I feel like I fulfilled SOME of the requests. Dandy HAS appeared more in the strip as a side character AND I started reruns of the original strips on Patreon. The
#furry
stuff, not quite as much. I'm bad at

I wanted to give up cartooning yesterday. Been fighting extreme depression for a few days now & it was getting worse. Then I looked at the calendar and saw that the full moon was coming. This reminded me WHY my usual levels of depression & anxiety felt supercharged. Whee! lol
@HassanHamid266
Both films in this series LOOKED fantastic! I love that they embraced the fact that the suits WRINKLE when he moves and replicated that instead of the MCU approach, which is to smooth out all wrinkles all the time. (Even on the actual, live-action suits.)
Yesterday, I reposted a strip about my first convention out AS Dee from a few years ago. As such, here's the follow up re-run from that scene. And yeah, this 100% happened, as did the group bathroom trip afterwards. One of my best memories ever. 💚💜💚
Why TWO strips in a week? Welllll, this strip is specifically referencing my first ever book signing for "Lycanthropy and the Single Girl", which is happening TOMORROW, July 22nd at Artist's Attic in downtown Oil City, Pennsylvania!

With it being
#TransDayOfVisibility
, I have not wanted to be LESS visible than I am this year. I came out in 2016, and in that time the political climate has gone from concerning to terrifying for me. Half of the country wants me dead or at least legislated out of existence...
RERUN: I tend to fluctuate between jeans and t-shirts, (often with a plaid overtop) & those sun-dresses with little tops because I hate my shoulders. In the winter, I am the sweater queen. But a lot of my fashion comes back to "what will get me less dirty glares from assholes?"
This rerun remains relevant as the strip continues to often be about our cats, my creative projects, and life in general. Also, one of my favorite uses of random coloring I've used in the strip.
@AnneComics
Gonna bet most everyone that has nitpicks and "totally not misogynistic" reasons for disliking THIS... very likely loved when Superman did pretty much the exact same thing... with ven LESS visible effort... in the Snyder cut. Le sigh.
It doesn't often show in a lot of my work, Al Williamson was a massive influence. I've tried studying lines and textures of my favorite artists for years, and decided to do an homage piece with some of my own characters in celebration of what would have been his 92nd birthday.
This is the tribute to
#CharlesSchulz
I created last year for his
#birthday
. To say the
#PEANUTS
is an influence on me is an epic understatement, and it is a tremendous honor that a print of this is archived at
#theSchulzMuseum
. 💛🖤💛
Let me preface this by saying that a LOT of stories are built on a small handful of repeating ideas. THIS comic is: "Dee has creative block.", "Dee is anxious about public restrooms.", "Look, boobs.", etc.
The new CONAN comic from Jim Zub and Rob De La Torre is REALLY good.
Got a bunch of new
#HELLBOY
comics a few weeks ago, including the new holiday special, "The Yule Cat". Reading them put me in a very
@artofmmignola
mood and inspired a desire to do another homage. A CAT-centric homage. As such, this strip was born.
#mikemignola
BOTH of our new
#kitties
are love machines and CONSTANTLY want to be all over me. This is a fact that I adore, but that CAN make having any privacy a smidge tricky.
Calling Finding Dee a comic about being
#Transgender
is accurate, but it's also about anxiety, relationships, work, hungry pets & poor diet choices. It's about how funny LIFE can be. Read about it in 4 new print collections @
#ShamelessSelfpromoMonday
I wanted to do my level best Bill Watterson-esque monster in panel 1 to contrast with the REAL threat.
And yeah, this did happen. Lucipurr attacked a dangling foot, dug his claws into the soft middle and HUNG off of it. We... do not let them sleep in the room anymore. lol
I have a birthday coming up & am feeling self-conscious. I know that everyone who is so much as 3 seconds older than me will SCOFF, but you can all suck it. lol. Here's a rerun from last year where I started drawing my encroaching grey in the strip, giving up THAT fight. lol
@minaszorells
The performance here, to me, seems so clear. Looks like she's watching and hoping and is in momentary shock when Zod kills that guy. She doesn't want to engage here. She's conflicted. (I've not seen the film, but in just this clip, the actress is selling that conflict HARD.)
SO excited. Starting today, I am assisting artist Shelley Pleger INKING the syndicated Dick Tracy comic strip for a little while. It's such a different creative challenge inking another artists pencils in this style & Im loving it. Plus... MY art is part of a newspaper comic!
Imposter syndrome kicks my ass regularly. My sense of failure rears its head all the time, & I try to keep it to myself for the reasons Dandy says here. I was wallowing the day I wrote this, & was avoiding helf. When I realized WHY, this strip idea came to me. Weird
#therapy
Heidi is an extrovert and I am VERY much an introvert. As such, the pandemic shut down had VERY different effects on us. For me, or undid YEARS of work I had put into forcing myself into social circumstances, but it was fun to poke fun at the idea in this rerun strip.
@BigScreenMovie2
If Star Wars history has taught us ANYTHING about visually interesting underlings in awesome masks, it has taught us that he's... nobody and will do little to nothing before dying unceremoniously.
Happy 65th Birthday to one of the all-time greatest cartoonists and storytellers to ever do it! Bill Watterson and Calvin and Hobbes remain high watermarks we ALL strive to hit!
#CalvinandHobbes
#billwatterson

#birthday
Today, we celebrate the extraordinary talent of Bill Watterson on his 65th birthday! The legacy of Calvin & Hobbes lives on, reminding us to embrace our inner child,explore our imaginations and find beauty in the simplest moments. Here’s to the magic you’ve shared with the world!
So, this strip is, of course, total fantasy. I do not own a towel that covers me that well. lol
That said, I feel like the water in my shower IS that sensitive. One MICRON too low and it’s freezing, and one quarks-width too high and my skin is burned off.
To all the Trekkies looking at that parody in the top panel saying "Actually, Dee. You're sitting in OPS, not the helm." I say, you'll notice that I blew UP the helm.
Star Trek homage aside, I love my car's touch screen, but in motion it's nigh-impossible to use with ease. Lol
Hey, it's apparently the birthday of legendary comic artist and creator, John Byrne. I have been MASSIVELY influenced by his amazing body of work, but now can only imagine that he would despise this homage cover I did as much as he would look down on me as a person. Wheee.
Them: "Dee, don't you think the constant promotion of your books is coming off as obnoxious? Don't you think you should maybe back off a little bit?"
Me:
Long before Inside Out, I was a fan of both Herman's head, and the cranium command attraction at Epcot. Lowe's inspired this series of strips where I used characters from my other comics as the voices inside my own head. I don't do these too often, but they were fun for a bit.
7 years ago today, was the day I came out as transgender. The next day, I made a more noticable announcement with, of all things, a comic strip. (I know that "transgenderED" is incorrect, but didn't when I made this. Lol. And yes, I heard about it loudly. Lol)
From 2001 to 2018, I drew a webcomic called Dandy & Company, where I occasionally cameoed as "the cartoonist". As such, when I came out (8 years ago today) as Transgender, this 2016 strip was how I decided to announce that to all.
A year later, Finding Dee premiered.
Okay, no. I ADORE all things Tron like crazy, but can we PLEASE not make it into another asinine Jared Leto vanity project. Just... no. Please. Leave it be if this is the best you've got, Disney.
#derezjaredletotron
#dereztronares
This rerun was inspired by some online rambling when Disney announced that they were rebooting the 90s X-Men cartoon, but it applies to SO many shows where fans use "art style" and "animation" interchangeably. This is my "literally/figuratively" and I will die on this hill. lol
It really just is exhausting trying to keep up with all of these, but as it is a major way that I let people know this comic exists, I keep trying them as they pop up. Who knows how many will still exist when this strip runs. lol
As the current weather makes this rerun comic strip about boob sweat TREMENDOUSLY relevant, a repost seemed like a safe idea. Also, yes. As far as I'm concerned, the sweat is a small price to pay for the boobs, so no. No regerts. ;)
It's been over a year since I finally got
#breastaugmentation
and still, I have
#noregerts
. Also, I am still oddly pleased with the
#cartooning
in this strip, so a double win. Usually, I hate everything I draw about 5 minutes after finishing it. lol
I'm not running this strip as panels since half of the gag would be lost that way. THIS way, toon me is talking left to right and Manga me is talking right to left. It took a lot to suss out how to make it work. Lol
Been recovering from COVID, and haven't drawn much. Also, been re-binging the new and awesome DuckTales. As such, I felt like shaking off some art dust with a quick piece of Scrooge McDuck, Webby and the nephews. Woo Hoo!
For the last couple of months, I have been working on the comic strip, Dick Tracy, inking about 2 or 3 days a week for artist Shelley Pleger. It's been an amazing project and I promised myself that there would be ONE thing I'd buy with my first payday. ;)
In hindsight, I've no idea why I didn't draw myself in a ponytail in the ENTIRE strip here to push the gag. That said, I work very hard to not look like Alice the Goon in selfies, because it's very easy otherwise. lol
As we are now firmly into the frigid, dry weather season, this rerun from last year is aggressively relevant. lol
Mewsie still doesn't care about me doing this unless I touch her ears. Also, this is still one of my favorite uses of spot color in the otherwise BxW strip. lol
The more I ink on Dick Tracy, the more I've looked back at other classic characters I've always dug such as the Phantom. This is just a piece I did for fun tonight.
#thephantom
#slamevil
Happy Boob day to me! Yup, today is the first anniversary of my top surgery. Figured a good way to celebrate my breastification would be to rerun the "Boob Saga" where I recounted the event IN my webcomic! No regerts!
