Police asked her things like “You didn’t swim here right?” To which she was like, “FROM HOLLAND!!?” Eventually, they said that she wasn’t registered in Japan hence the confusion (bullshit). So they drive her to her house where she had her details and passport etc.

Japanese is one of the hardest languages to master in the world, sure. But it’s also one of the easiest to bullshit your way through and “fake it”. I often realise I don’t have the grammar to finish my train of thought, so just end with “ですが” or “そんな感じです” lol.

Advice for first timers in Japan! 1) Take your shoes off when entering any shop. 2) Kabukicho in Shinjuku is great for relaxing walks at night. 3) Bow to everyone on the street over the age of 50 - even if you don’t know them! 4) You have to wake up at 6am - even in a hotel.

So I ended up getting a ¥1,200,000 pay rise, 2 days extra paid leave (18) and able to use most of summer and winter holidays still. I think I’m happy with this. If not I can still quit after a year. I can buy new lenses and expand my photography. And see @Joekkaido .

I’m having to deal with a bullying case at school. It’s rough. Don’t have to call parents or anything like that as that’s what the home room teachers do. Just sorting everything out, making things better between all parties etc. It’s tiring man. Bullying is prevalent in Japan.

So after 5 years at a dispatch company, as of this April I’ve been working directly for my school. As a result I can finally go on the school trip for FREE to Kansai (including USJ). I was told on Friday that I can get ¥5200 a day bonus too because it’s “extra work” :)

Tried asking my teachers (with some simple examples) what sarcasm is in Japanese. They told me ジョーク, 嫌味, 痩せ我慢 and 負け惜しみ. But after giving some more examples, they just said, “日本人はそれを言わない” lol.
