94yo patient said he didn’t deserve to be treated this way. He took my hand, & in tears, said he worked hard all his life & now needed to be looked after. Hospitals have no beds for his comfort. Over capacity. He lost his dignity. These are “mild” effects of Omicron. It’s awful.

The nurse called at 11 pm crying & begging her colleague to come in. She was the ONLY nurse for 21 acute care pts! Colleague got out of bed & dragged her tired broken body in after just working 4, 12 hr days. The HC system is collapsing 😔 #nursingshortage #onhealth #patientsafety

I held my elderly pt’s frail hand. She struggled to breathe. We had done all we could. She asked if I could sing to her. I don’t know where it came from, but I sang. She had no family or friends to call. I stroked her hair. She passed away but not alone. I will remember her.

Lucky passed away. Our kids found him at 1000 lying on his side in the tall grass on our property on bank of the creek. He didn’t go far. Our love will always be with Lucky. We will miss him. The sorrow is deep. He was smart, loyal & an amazing friend. I wish I hugged him more.

Nurse EXPECTED to work 8-12 hr day shifts in a row, w/two back to back shifts b/c the same nurse is on call from 7pm to 7 am. This means if called in for a night shift while on call, must keep working day shift! 24 hrs! How is this safe? @ontarionurses @collegeofnurses

We walked the hall together. Both the doc & I exhausted. Frazzled. We were in the trenches & our day was over. But at the lot just outside the hospital that’s where we parted. His car right there; I had to walk a fair distance to mine. Nurses should have same parking privileges.

What a day in patient care ❤️ One nurse stands out. An elderly pt was admitted through ER. She was in huge distress w/cardiac issues, unstable & scared. The pt wrapped her arms around my colleague, held her tight & wept. Hard. My colleague hugged her back. Time stood still. #RPN

Geesuz. My patient had a job & a house. Then COVID hit & Long COVID settled in. She couldn’t work & lost everything. Patient is fighting just to survive. How can anyone live on ODSP $1300/mo when basic rent is more than that! ODSP is forced poverty, punitive & demoralizing.

Patient known to be violent. We were cautioned but pt suckered me: hoofed me in thigh. If we had enough staff, 2 staff would provide care to help avoid #assault & #injury . Assault hurts >90% of #nurses . Nurses are vulnerable. We don’t get danger pay. Instead we get #Bill124 .
