the breathtaking *insane* irony of THIS song being prominently played at the afterparty for a film whose director was accused of sexually assaulting women at film festivals and also made sexual overtures at minors, accepted nude photos from them & posted a used tissue in response
The notion that the purpose of cinema is to "escape from reality" reinforces the troubling mindset that films are distractions instead of legitimate art.
Well, this is awkward.
Apparently, James Hunter (the MaXXXine extra) was found guilty on multiple charges of fraud about a decade ago, having scammed many UCLA students out of cash by pretending to lease apartments on Craigslist.
Doug Walker, nine years ago: "The purpose of fiction is to help us understand reality, not escape it. It's getting into a different time and place to help you understand life lessons."

The WandaVision finale's post-credits scene literally had her using the Darkhold and hearing the voices of her kids and it was set to horror-style music and camerawork, I don't know what fans were expecting?
"The director making interesting and unorthodox choices that help increase the tension and unease of the central situation and add to the intimacy? Pfft, what a hack!"

Fans are quick to defend that with, "But she's not IDF, she's changed to a U.S. government employee," even though that's not an improvement in the slightest given that the U.S. government is bankrolling Israel's genocide with our taxpayer money.

Because nowadays, whenever a horror film does go for ambiguity, you have certain audience members going, "Why is nothing explained? This is lazy writing!" and it's agonizing.

: RIAN, YOU SON OF A BITCH... the audacity of you to make a whodunnit mystery this wickedly clever and beautifully photographed and pitch-perfectly acted and gut-bustingly funny and meticulously crafted, resulting in one of my favorite films of 2019! You sly devil, you.

The musical is said to be the most purely cinematic of all genres, and yet this movie looks like something I'd see every Tuesday night on ABC.

Nakia had literally the exact same philosophy as Killmonger — and wanted to go about it the right way — and yet everybody on here just conveniently gets fucking amnesia over that little detail.

Guys, if you wanna attack Joss Whedon for something, attack him for emotionally abusing his wife for 15 years, not for having to rewrite, reshoot, and re-edit JL into an entirely different film within the span of 100 days.
I can already tell the discourse surrounding her thoughts on the film — which, she's Native American, it's obviously important we hear out their opinions on a story about the murder of Osage people — will be insufferable, completely black-and-white, lacking nuance.

"Our pride for being Native, our languages, cultures, joy & love are way more interesting & humanizing than showing the horrors white men inflicted on us”
"Holy shit, I CAN'T comprehend the idea that a grown man is capable of... *gasp*... crying! And Uncle Ben being an important part of Peter's character? That's just crazy talk!"
Oh yeah, forgot to mention: Another dumbass running gag is that Doug thinks the movie is too "soft" for a PG-13.
Yeah, that incredibly brutal and bloody climactic fight scene between Spidey and the Goblin is such "softie" quality.
The next ‘AVENGERS’ movie may feature more than 60 characters returning to the MCU.
