Having an extraordinarily difficult time at the moment. As for so many, it's been a horrible few months. Really need to refind my focus. Glad to have the kids back to school and to have spent a couple of hours at work looking at data today. Small steps.

After another editorial rejection of our work, I realize that there is clearly a massive disconnect between what I find exciting and what the field does. This is when I really admire the "regroup and we go again" mentality. I don't have that level of enthusiasm any more.

Dynein-2 is required for a functional transition zone and bidirectional ciliary trafficking. We've knocked out WDR34 and WDR60 in RPE-1 cells using CRISPR. Lots of microscopy, biochem, proteomics. #cilia #cellbiology

I've installed the @NHSCOVID19app Simple, clear on privacy and data retention. If in the UK, please do this. The more who use it, the more effective it will be. Its only one tool in the toolbox though so wear a mask, keep your distance, and keep washing your hands regularly.

Terrible first experience with #glyoxal . PFA fixed cells look beautiful. #Glyoxal has stripped all the cells off the coverslip! Used the protocol in the paper word for word, even did the extra 30 mins on ice for PFA (which we would'n't normally do).
