Terrible first experience with #glyoxal . PFA fixed cells look beautiful. #Glyoxal has stripped all the cells off the coverslip! Used the protocol in the paper word for word, even did the extra 30 mins on ice for PFA (which we would'n't normally do).

On #IWD2021 Important to remember the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on women and most importantly to take that knowledge into any evaluation over coming years. Recruitment, promotions, grant applications etc all must consider this. #InternationalWomensDay

Worth a look. We always spend a lot of time on different fixatives for new antibodies esp for #cilia

Glyoxal as more efficient less toxic fixative than PFA for immunostaining. Goes straight into our labs ordering system.

And so it ends. Today is my last day in the lab as an MRC-funded researcher. I have been fortunate enough to have received support for our work since I became a PI, first as a Non-Clinical Career Development Fellow, then a Senior Fellow, then as a serial research grantholder. 1/3
