I don't think there were fewer racists around when I was younger. It's just that we called them racists and let them know we didn't agree with them instead of inviting them on to Question Time to let them pretend they were just voicing our concerns.

Why on earth is "Edinburgh Airport" still called that? As a son, grandson & great-grandson of a Scottish father, grandfather and great-grandfather, I think that "Heathrow Airport (Edinburgh)" would surely have better reflected the truth that we’re all in this together.

I live in Scotland and most of my my adult life has been spent under British Tory governments. The knowledge that ultimately I could rely on "interference from Brussels" has often pretty much been the one thing that allowed me to sleep at night.

The parent of one of my daughter's school friends stopped speaking to me *and my daughter* in 2014, so angry was she. She said she'd go back to England on a Yes vote. She'd literally storm past us in the street. I met her on Saturday's march. The most astonishing turn-around yet.
