🚨Personal News🚨
I am starting a new position as a Producer
@GBNEWS
.
I have really enjoyed my time at the channel over the past year.
I look forward to working in this new role to continue building on the growth of Britain’s News Channel. Let’s go!
Just watched members of the public clap for our military as they walked past at Waterloo Station in preparation for The King’s Coronation. Another sign people do care about the monarchy. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
People have been critical of Boris in recent months but has enough praise been given for his handling of the Ukraine war. The UK has donated 5.29 million items of medical supplies to Ukraine, including 3,000 adult resuscitators and £400 million in humanitarian and economic aid.
I recently interviewed
@calvinrobinson
about the petrol and food shortages.
He said: “There are food shortages in Australia and labour shortages in the United States, neither of which can be blamed on Brexit.”
The only person who can unite the Conservative Party and defeat the socialists right now is Penny Mordaunt.
Not only is Penny Mordaunt an excellent communicator she also backed Brexit from the start.

Next year in 2024 there is going to be a UK general election and a US presidential election potentially within months of each other.
It will be the first time since 1992 the two elections have both fallen in the same year. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Last week I was elected as Youth Membership Officer
@Woking_Cons
at this year’s AGM.
I look forward to becoming a member of the Association Executive and working in this position to encourage more young people to get involved in politics.
More than 50,000 university staff at 68 unis are striking for ten days, affecting 1 million students.
I interviewed
@sophielouisecc
, she said: "The strike action is incredibly annoying and students should be demanding money back for missed learning."
After four months of working full time overnight and 500 online articles later. I have my first byline in a national paper today.

2022 local elections, let’s go!
I’ve enjoyed speaking to residents over the last few weeks and canvassing to get local candidates into the council to help their communities.
Great night last night at
@forthemanypod
live, it was nice to meet former Home Secretary and Strictly legend
@Jacqui_Smith1
! The podcast hosted by Iain and Jacqui definitely helped me get through the pandemic. It’s a must listen for anyone interested in politics!
I have my first front page mention in today’s
@Daily_Express
I interviewed Chair of MotorSport UK David Richards CBE about Lewis Hamilton’s snub from the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
He said: “Motorsport UK would have welcomed Lewis’ inclusion in the shortlist.”
I have not watched the final episodes of Harry and Meghan’s documentary.
Instead I decided to go and pay my respects to the monarch who devoted her entire life to public service for over 70 years. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks
@CamillaTominey
for sticking up for students.
I like thousands of others put up with over 17 months of online lectures with no face to face teaching, whilst writing a dissertation without library access. Students also missed a month of teaching from strikes in 2020.
I was presented with my Gold DofE Award by Prince Edward. I am so pleased Edward and Sophie have been granted the titles of Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, they both work so hard and deserve it.
So pleased King Charles III had a successful tour of Germany in his first overseas state visit as monarch.
It is so nice to see the crowds turning out for The King and Queen Consort.
This is getting ridiculous now. Mick Lynch has even hinted at FIVE more months of strike action next year.
Do the right thing and call off the strikes this Christmas and New Year and put the hard-working people of this country first.
Former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher would have been 97 today.
The longest serving Prime Minister of the 20th Century, Thatcher won three elections for the Conservative Party.
Here’s me pictured with the Iron Lady back in 2018.
Just received confirmation I’m in the ballot to vote for the leadership of the Conservative Party. This is the second leadership race I will be voting in.
This time around I’m supporting
@PennyMordaunt
to become the leader of the Conservative Party and our next Prime Minister.
The two Davids father and Son. Off to
@Woking_Cons
annual dinner with guest speaker
@SteveBakerHW
.
I first went to a political dinner with my dad back in 2017, five years on and I still love politics!
Penny Mordaunt is a serious contender if there was a race in the next six months, she has government experience having served in Theresa May's Cabinet as Secretary of State for International Development from 2017 to 2019 and Secretary of State for Defence in 2019.
I think reforming universities is more of a pressing issue. Too many students go to university, blame Blair for that. We need to put more emphasis on the importance of apprenticeships rather than extending maths to 18.
Penny Mordaunt is still my favourite candidate as a potential Boris successor whenever that time might be. Mordaunt backed Brexit from day one and she comes across as a competent, genuine politician. Penny Mordaunt could be the ideal 'unity' candidate.
Thank you
@SkyNews
and
@skynewsniall
for giving me a platform to highlight issues facing university students right now. Including tuition fees, rent and assessment support.
Yesterday I returned to
@unibirmingham
for the first time in over 16 months after completing nearly half of my degree from home.
Thank you to
@unibirmingham
for holding a graduation to help me celebrate achieving a first in my Politics and International Relations Degree.
2019 vs 2022 local elections.
So much has happened in those three years including getting Brexit done and coming out of the other side of the pandemic.
Here's my recent column on Liz Truss's economic plans compared with Starmer's vague standpoint, as after two years of being Labour Leader voters are still left wondering what 'Starmerism' actually means 👇
Just finished reading the new book from
@IainDale
. Anyone who is interested in politics and the media I would definitely recommend giving this a read.
Three years ago today I picked up my Gold
@DofE
Award from St. James’s Palace. A brilliant scheme which has inspired thousands of young people and strengthened their resilience and leadership skills.
Nice to spend time with Cllr
@RubySampson18
to find out about her work as a newly elected councillor and to discuss the Tory leadership race.
I met Ruby at university and had her on my politics radio show as a guest. Great to see her excelling in local politics!
Two years ago I called for the government to end the cruel lockdown restrictions on behalf of the million students who were still enduring months of online teaching.
Lockdown caused thousands to suffer with their mental health.
We must never put our country through it again.
Three years ago Boris Johnson became Prime Minister after beating his rival Jeremy Hunt in the leadership race with 92,153 votes while Hunt received 46,656 votes.
I was one of ten UK Conservative party members invited to attend the leadership announcement in Westminster.
Over one million university students are continuing with online learning.
From next week pubs, hairdressers, zoos and theme parks all reopen. There is still no return date for university students.

Iain was one of the first journalists I interviewed a few years ago back in 2020 just after the 2019 general election. The interview gave me the confidence to continue interviewing others. He definitely has inspired a lot of young people to get involved in politics and the media.
Just got to Waterloo station and found out there were no trains running from the station. No mention that trains would not be running past 9pm this morning.
Staff made passengers pay for additional tube tickets despite having return journeys cancelled.

‘Recently, I think our party has lost its sense of self.’
Penny Mordaunt MP launches her campaign to be the next leader of the Conservative Party.

We will never forget those soldiers who fought for our country and sacrificed their lives for us to be here today. We will remember them.
My grandad served in the army shortly after WWII I think of him today and all other veterans who are no longer with us. 🇬🇧

Many congratulations to The Queen as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee this week. Her Majesty is the UK’s longest serving monarch, first to reach this milestone and has dedicated her life to public service. The Queen’s leadership has inspired generations over the past 70 years.
I really enjoyed working on
@toryboypierce
’s LBC show today. Really great discussions from callers and guests about the monarchy. Brought back some fond memories from working
@Burn_FM
I spoke to
@CarverEmily
about the ongoing Ukraine War, Extinction Rebellion and the Partygate scandal.
After Boris Johnson apologised for his fixed penalty notice, the question we discussed is whether the public can move on from this.
Full interview:
Online learning is no substitute for face to face teaching. You can't build a strong rapport with lecturers over Zoom. In person lectures are also where you meet your course friends.
Some lecture halls were also hired out for corporate events whilst teaching stayed online.
Thank you Queen Elizabeth II for dedicating your life to our country and serving our great nation for 70 years. Congratulations on becoming the first British monarch to celebrate their Platinum Jubilee, an incredible achievement.
#GodSaveTheQueen
Instead of targeting older generations who have worked hard their entire lives, why not focus on reducing the dependency culture of the younger population and encourage them into work.
Also, get more people into work at 18 rather than encouraging everyone to go to university.
Jeremy Hunt has stated that over 50's should be considering a "third career" more instead of "hanging up" their boots.
@AliMirajUK
asks: What would motivate retirees to re-enter the work place?
The worst thing about unis and the pandemic was Spring last year when teaching was kept online and graduations were cancelled for so many. Whilst at the same time, unis resumed large scale on campus tours for next year's intake and hired out lecture halls for corporate events.
