The civil service is not fit for purpose. It undermines the govt at every opportunity, claims bullying when being asked to it's job, and was the main culprit in Downing St "parties". Time for a clear out - it needs to be run like any private sector company, on performance.

@helen_spirit1 This has been my point ever since the start of covid - you can't hold one man responsible for every decision that was made. He, and his department worked long days and nights trying to manage an unprecedented situation. That so many hold any one individual responsible is awful.

@Scarborough_GB Absolute nonsense. She was already arrested and serving a sentence before Boris Johnson said anything, and this was always about the money. Further, this was a debt going back to the 70's - why didn't labour sort it out when they were in power? Sanctions were placed 2002.

@Kevin_Maguire Some issues, like the deficit labour left, will take a generation to repair. PFI debt, pensions, gold. There are things that it's perfectly reasonable to blame labour for, and the creation of golden visas, welcoming the Abramovich's of the world to London was under a labour watch

@MichelleDewbs @BorisJohnson The difference is that there's no suggestion Boris was there, or even aware, but likes of Barry Gardiner, Stephen Kinnock, Tahir Ali, Ian Blackford and Keir Starmer himself were all actually photographed breaking the rules. Perhaps they are the details that need to go to police?
