I say it all the time, I feel so fortunate to do a job that I absolutely love in the greatest sport in the world. So lucky to work with the talented
@ABRVideo
team, Rachel Miller & contributors like
@Somobomb18
@DanielleMoinet
. 🙌 on an epic Pegasus show.
Context. This was literally right after winning the Belmont as Jena was being escorted to the post-race press conference. She stopped the walk over to sign a program for a fan who came from Canada to root her on. Just phenomenal.
Talk about the agony of defeat. No matter where you stand on the DQ, have to feel for jockey Luis Saez who waited through a 22 minute review only to find out that he and Maximum Security were being taken down.

June 20: Belmont Stakes
September 5: Kentucky Derby
October 3: Preakness Stakes
It might not look pretty. It might stress you out. But be thankful that we’ve at least got dates locked up and that one of racing’s greatest traditions will actually continue this year.
Not often that I get to spend the day at the races with my best friend. Can hardly contain my excitement to actually be at Royal Ascot and then to be here with
@MHause
. 🙌🏻
Watching the Derby replay a few more times this morning, can’t say enough about the ride Mystik Dan got. Stayed out of trouble early, saved ground, waited, went at just the right time. Anything different and he probably doesn’t win the race.
It’s also safe to say Sierra Leone
Want to make sure we’re all cheering for
@acacia_courtney
this weekend as she competes for Miss Florida USA. Not sure how she does it or finds the time. She’s absolutely brilliant and, if you’ve ever met her, you also know she’s one of the nicest people on earth. Let’s go, AC!!!
Riding on another planet right now. Four wins in a row for JJ. Point of Honor is his next mount in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes
@PimlicoRC
. He’s on Warrior’s Charge
@PreaknessStakes
on Saturday.
#Preakness144
Dunbar Road may have won the Alabama but I think
@sophidoyle
on third-place finisher Street Band got stopped by more fans, media and owners
@MyRacehorse
than anyone else following the race.
That was one of the best celebrations I’ve seen in a long time. Credit to Uriah, his team and his family. Discreet Lover has been so game in tough spot after tough spot all year long. Seemed like it was just a matter of time before he won one like this.
Some “positive” news on the morning after Derby.
@BrissetRodolphe
’s Positive Spirit is feeling great. Here she is with her trainer, two days after falling at the break of the

50 years (and one day) since Secretariat’s Belmont. 10 years (and one day) since our wedding. She insisted anniversary weekend include racing. I obliged.
@MHause
Pinching myself. Racing has taken me to places these past few years I never imagined. Now, excited to be headed to Dubai for the first time. Thanks to
@ABRLive
& the folks
@DubaiWorldCup
for making it possible. Looking forward to capturing some awesome stories w/
@PenelopePMiller
!
Gotta say that one of the best parts of this past week was seeing
@PenelopePMiller
get showered with praise for what will be an iconic
@PreaknessStakes
photo for years to come. She works so hard behind the scenes. It’s great to see her work recognized.
A star is born... actually, he was already a star. Now, he’s just getting mobbed by US racing fans. Joseph O’Brien in high demand after winning the F&M Turf with Iridessa.
@BreedersCup
Don’t think Honor A P was winning on this day but to be taken out at the start by Paco like that was absolutely atrocious. Kind of knew he was going to try something. Couldn’t haven’t been any more blatant.
While in the Baffert scrum, asked him how Mike Smith broke the news to him that he was going with Omaha Beach over Roadster in
#KyDerby
and how he reacted.
@flothejock
will ride the Santa Anita Derby winner on Saturday.
A brutally tough day for the sport but watching
@jenaantonucci
celebrate that Travers put a smile on my face. Really happy for her team,
@jjcjockey
, the owners and that spectacular horse. Thank you, Arcangelo.
Digging through a box of old VHS tapes from my dad’s house. Apparently, I recorded like every wrestling and racing event from 1990-2005.
@joesantos_33
- remember this?
So glad
@PenelopePMiller
caught this shot after we hit the late pick 4 at Saratoga. Guy I’m high-fiving didn’t even know what p4 was before today. He came out with 8 people (first or second time at the races) and they all had a piece of it.Can confidently say they’re coming back.
Before the clock strikes midnight, watch this. Remember what it was like to go to sleep three years ago tonight, knowing we’d finally seen it. Amazing.

Felt like this day was coming for a while. Now, it’s here. I hate to have to finally do it but as of Feb. 5, will no longer be active. Too many emotions and memories tied to the site for me to cover it all but I do have a few things I want to share. 1/7
Easy to get down on folks in this climate — especially on Twitter. But days like today are a reminder that people are overwhelmingly good and kind. Really appreciate all of the birthday messages. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Tacitus a no-go for
@PreaknessStakes
, will point to
@BelmontStakes
No decision yet from Mott on Country House. Asked him about the intrigue of a rematch with Maximum Security and developing a rivalry (which we don’t really get anymore in racing).
A week from Oaks Day
@ChurchillDowns
and there’s no doubt
@sophidoyle
will be one of the main storylines as she tries to become only the second woman to win
#KyOaks
. We spent some time with her
@fairgroundsnola
before she won the Oaks there with Street Band.
Whenever I get to watch network coverage of racing, I’m reminded of just how good
@BritneyEurton
and
@nickluck
are… just an awesome job setting the scene
@Ascot
on NBC this morning.
Devastating news. The timing is both shocking and heartbreaking. But if I have learned anything in talking with the Dorman family it’s that they’re strong. And they’re also comforted in knowing that Cody got to experience Saturday… and that his story & legacy will last forever.
We’re deeply saddened to learn this morning of the passing of Cody Dorman. Just this past weekend, our team was overjoyed to spend time with Cody and his family at the Breeders’ Cup. Cody’s memory will live forever and we won’t stop telling his inspirational story of courage,
Picked up some old issues of Sports Illustrated. Pretty remarkable how much coverage racing would get. Take a look at this gem from October 1955. A feature on Garden State Park and the “Richest Race in the World” - the $300,000 Garden State.
Since everyone is posting about
#Covfefe
, I’ll put this up there as probably my favorite moment of the weekend. Always dreamed of one day attending a Breeders’ Cup. Never imagined that I’d get to this close to such greatness.
He was all heart, all of the time. Sad I️ can’t be
@LaurelPark
today. Will be watching from the road, thinking about all of the thrills
#BensCat
brought us.
This whole story is just so crushing. If you’re interested in support Alex’s family, there’s this fund that they’ve set up: Alex Canchari Memorial Fund
Pops sent me this video of my 90-year-old grandmother in Morocco. This was from the balcony of her apartment in Casablanca after the game today. 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
Always find great stories at the NHC. This year’s winner had never won a handicapping tournament. Like ANY tournament EVER.
Paul also shared with me that he had an especially tough 2022. Lost his mother. He also recently got laid off. Can’t not feel just so happy for him.
He’s from Kansas City and drove out to
#NHC2023
just hoping to do well enough to cover his expenses. Now, Paul Calia is going to leave Vegas with more than $900,000, an Eclipse Award and one heck of a story.
Don’t think you have what it takes to make it to a 🐎 handicapping
Should also note that shortly after this video was taken
@TheNYRA
CEO & President David O’Rourke appeared and started handing out umbrellas to families who were stranded in the rain. Pretty solid move. 👏🏻👏🏻
Pretty cool idea. They basically sell mystery packs of tickets. $20 pounds. They give you a win/place bet, exacta, place pick 6 bet and a “survivor” pool bet. All random but an easy way to introduce people to various bets available. Had no idea there was a survivor pool, myself.
Mancave/home OTB starting to come together a bit thanks to
@MHause
and a visit from pops. Not pictured - mini bourbon bar. Definitely need some artwork. What am I missing?
Out of nowhere tonight, my dad texts me photos of my first job in racing. Yep, that’s me as mr. bbq in the picnic area
@MonmouthPark
after I’d moved up from straight concessions. Despite the serious look, one of the best summers of my life. 2003. 😳
Love a good Maryland story. Owner David Palmer from Glyndon gets his first grade one win with Wet Your Whistle in the Highlander
@WoodbineTB
. Win also completes an incredible comeback story for jockey Alex Cintron. His first G1 and first graded stakes win of any kind since 2014.
