Punters beware. Recently I’ve had an ongoing saga with a large corporate. October 2 I received the following request to undergo enhanced verification. All documents were provided within the 7 day window.

For context. The account is currently suspended pending review, with no end in site. The account has a high turnover low margin history. It seems bookies may be starting to hide behind the new safer gambling regulatory methods to get rid of any unwanted business.
@MRowlandMP
@petajan
@anthonycarbines
@AUSTRAC
if the activity on the account is such that they are requesting this ridiculous amount of documentation I suggest we pass this matter onto AUSTRAC for further investigation.

November 13. After thorough scouring of my bank statements the bookmaker has noticed a number of deposits and withdrawals to other bookmakers. An outrageous request has been made that I provide lifetime activity statements from 5 other bookmakers the I frequently use.

@smh
Kate, how about an investigative piece on how these big corporate ‘bookmakers’ are able to restrict certain individuals. This is the real story here, how can these organisations get away with what they’re doing?
@tomwaterhouse
@JamesACarleton
So it is morally acceptable to restrict these 3000 marginal customers so their wagering becomes non profitable while you sat there in your multi story office and watched/encouraged another 997000 customers consistently lose

There is a paragraph that refers to ‘limits being placed on successful punters’. Can we have some clarity or what this mean and why these bookmakers act in this way.
@chrisgambler247
@ChampagneMikey0
Not at the moment. Account suspended until requested documentation is presented. It would take them years to sift through lifetime activity of the other 5 accounts.

Dorrigo Pub striking well 3 years in a row they’ve gained a slot. Farrer 2/3 with a decent spend. Credit to them for spending up and being rewarded.

Seems a good little loophole to get around MBLs. Could be the new norm here in Aus for bookmakers to get rid of unwanted customers.
@dwyerbookmaking
Lowest joints of all time. Currently have my account balance withheld from me with classicbet as they undertake an investigation into the account. Can not access the substantial amount

Well done
@sportsbet
. After you guys not betting to the minimum bet laws and me spending 30 minutes on the phone to try and have it resolved, looks like we are off to the NT gaming commission.
@terrythesaint
@BetEasy
Terry, your personal experience does not reflect that of many punters. As a prominent figure in the industry you should stand up for punters that are man handled under the lax rules these corporates live under.
@PaulTatnell
@Racing
Understand. It just reads as if you feel the increase will shape the industry for years to come. These continued increases can only have a negative effect on the people that fund the industry, the punter.
@sothegreatgame
@chrisgambler247
Info in article is 100% legit. Disguised as safer gambling protection but I feel there is something more sinister at play.
@ChampagneMikey0
@chrisgambler247
It should not matter what bookmaker it is. There should be a national regulator in place to deal with these situations. For clarity the account was restricted to MBLs in December 2016.
Winners wanted? Not really. In a game that's desperate for turnover to sustain itself, it's incredible to read below. Trainer who backs his own dog has 'inside information'. But only if it wins? - via

No one is standing up to them. Turn over is in constant decline in Aus. The racing bodies need to make a stand. If these bookies are constantly driving away high turnover low margin punters the game is gone. There is no place for this type of punter in the current landscape.
@thedishking1
And it’s already been going on for 6 weeks. I would’ve wasted 20+ hours on the phone during this time, possibly more, trying to get answers from them.
@WolfdenApp
@TRBHorseRacing
@DreamTeamMatt
What advice would you give to high turnover small margin punters that are continually running into roadblocks being put up by WSPs. What does the immediate future look like for this type of punter and how can this type of punter improve their craft in the current climate.
@formdoctor
Interesting to see how connections/trainers approach big syndicate slot holders as opposed to small group/single ticket holders. A good chance for a trainer to expose himself and promote business for years down the track to 100s of people in a large syndicates.
@ChrisRoots1
@scott0508
Maybe the change had something to do with the amount of rain that fell? I think all followers would appreciate Brads ability to adapt to a big change in conditions. Something that you dinosaurs should look into possibly?
@dwyerbookmaking
@amea05
How did you manage to get around that? My account is currently closed with another mob and I can’t access the money without a stat dec?
Well
@sportsbetcomau
we couldn’t come to a mutual agreement on that issue with the bet I tried to place under the MBL so forms have been submitted to GRV and the NT commission.
