Taylor Swift has donated enough money to cover the food bills for an entire year across 11 food banks and 8 community pantries in Liverpool.
She has done this for every city she's toured in the UK meaning she’s done more than the govt has in 14 years to eradicate food poverty.
So
@trussliz
has time to debate with Civil Servants whether £135 bottles of wine for a lunch are acceptable but doesn’t have time to do anything to try and get Nazanin Ratcliffe released? A travesty of justice and a stain on British politics
#freenazanin

My objection to knighthoods is they sometimes defy logic. Gordon Brown hasn't been given one, yet in govt lifted millions out of poverty, yet Iain Duncan Smith has one when policies he pushed plunged millions into poverty. Can anyone help me make sense of that?

Worth remembering, when Sunak was attacking Rayner at PMQs yesterday, he already knew about Mark Menzies.
Integrity, professionalism and accountability?
Feels more like Johnson 2.0.
So
@BylineTimes
@peterjukes
@carolecadwalla
and others criticised for telling truth about UK and Russia whereas Farage and others have misled the public for years and been celebrated. Finally seems tables are turning and we’re appreciating journalists with UK interests at heart
Great stuff by

.
So the government are the biggest spender of advertising on GB News with £1M over the last year.
Put another way, this is then paid to ministers as wages for appearances.
What would you call that?
So the BBC take Clive Myrie off the news at ten for making Johnson jokes on Have I Got News for You but are happy to have Johnson apologist Guto Hari on Question Tine defending lying to Parliament
How does that work?

Brexit benefits update
British citizens now have the right to work the longest hours in Europe
Until they reach the highest retirement age in Europe
When they will receive one of the lowest pensions in Europe
Didn’t see that on the side of a bus 🤔

Rejoin hit a new high in

Hard to see how the main parties can continue to ignore the impact of Brexit on the economic challenges the country faces

For those who think it’s impossible to hold this govt to account, take heart from
@BylineTimes
and all the other fantastic campaigners who have paused the NHS data grab. The govt wants to make accountability harder so we’ll just have to fight twice as hard
It was only one leader spreading conspiracy theories and misinformation after the Southport murders.
It wasn’t Starmer, Sunak or Davey.
It was Farage.
His client commentators need to own that and question why they’re so desperate to accused with someone only focused on
So on Tuesday Harry Cole is calling Keir Starmer ‘Sir Sleepy’ and today The Sun says he has ‘won the right to take charge.’
Can anyone explain to me how that works?
On the day Sunak faces a crunch vote on Rwanda it’s worth remembering
- 745k migrants arrived last year. Rwanda can take 200 of them
- The cost per person is £63k higher than letting them stay here
- £140M has already been spent with another £100M planned

The main takeaway from

seem to be that Sunak was the last to know about Zahawi, the last to know about Raab and apparently the only politican apart from Rees-Mogg to miss the economic analysis outlining the negative economic impact of Brexit

Two things the Conservatives must do immediately.
1. Condemn these horrific comments
2. Put in a place a process to give back the money donated
Sunak promised integrity, professionalism and accountability. These are the situations where he needs to prove it.

Another example of Brexit not working for voters.

Worth remembering NI is intended to act as insurance against illness and unemployment.
It then became a valuable mechanism for NHS funding and State Pension.

@PeterStefanovi2
- article in

today says there’s no evidence Johnson possesses substantive policies for any key area such as levelling up, nor even that he thinks deeply about them. You could go a step further and say he actively misleads the public on them.
Wow! 19 million views!! Keep going!
Working TOGETHER we have sent a powerful message to UK media that if they won’t hold this Prime Minister to account for his relentless lying we will damn well do it ourselves!
UK news shows cannot ignore this forever!
Braverman’s letter today shows why so many want an election now and a change of govt
At no point does her letter address voters. It’s all about party politics and self interest that doesn’t reflect what voters want from a govt
Serious times need serious govt

Well worth a read from

so the electorate can make informed decisions. Freedom of information is critical to a democracy
Let’s all post this regularly to remind
@trussliz
@BorisJohnson
that they continue to not do enough to bring Nazanin Ratcliffe home. Keep the pressure on them as this one of the greatest injustices we have seen for a British citizen that the govt could resolve
Ten years ago, Mark Menzies was accused of trying to buy drugs from a teenage Brazilian rent boy. He quit his ministerial position, and the party later made him the government trade envoy to Colombia and Peru.
Don't say the Conservatives don't do irony.
Fantastic article by

Kemi Badenoch is running her leadership campaign from the home of wealthy Tory donor Neil Record.
Neil Record is the chair of the climate science denial group Net Zero Watch.
He's also the life vice president of the Institute of Economic Affairs, closely linked to Liz Truss.
So Hunt says spending less money on public services can make public services better 🙄
The last 14 years would suggest otherwise…

How misinformation spreads. Two tier policing was firstly used by far right thugs such as Tommy Robinson.
Then it was shamelessly picked up by Farage who will latch onto anything, no matter how bad.
Then surprise, GB News and Mail commentators use it and it becomes mainstream.
It was nice of Braverman to identify tofu eating as the biggest issue the country faces. Personally, I thought it was the £65 billion black hole for mini budget created, but always good to be corrected…

Depressing to even see reputable media outlets refer to ULEZ as Khan’s policy.
Johnson and Shapps introduced it! Don’t be taken in by the gaslighting regardless of where you stand on the policy.
Also depressing to see the govt try and turn climate into the next culture war
The one reason the govt is almost certain to lose the GE that no amount of new policies or culture wars will alter is that voters believe they have left the UK in a worse state than they found it.
Only 9% believe the UK is flourishing. No govt can survive that.

Almost like what they promised from Brexit and what they’ve negotiated are two entirely different things 🤔
Johnson tells LBC it "looks greedy" that Keir Starmer had a donor pay for suits and glasses when he's on a "perfectly good salary from government".
How much did the Downing Street wallpaper cost again?
Big lesson from UK and France. Don’t try and appease the far right by pandering to them.
Acknowledge the issues they seek to divide on and build your own practical, sensible solutions.
They don’t have any.

I was in Copenhagen over the weekend and the trains were seamless. On time, good value and a seat for everyone. It’s time the govt made it clear to the rail companies this isn’t acceptable rather than renewing their contracts
@ThatTimWalker
It would have made more sense for either Witty or Vallance to do the broadcast. Three reasons - they’re medical experts, didn’t have lockdown parties so carry more credibility and it wouldn’t basically be a party broadcast to try and shore up Johnson’s leadership
Is the UK the only major country where people pay a high price for a long train journey and then have to stand for the whole of it?
On the train from London to Birmingham and the amount of people standing is incredible.
Never seen it anywhere else.
There were only 6 cases of ballot fraud at the last GE. When the govt say voter ID is to protect” your vote, what they are actually saying is they want to put off younger and poorer voters. Guess who those voters are less likely to vote for?
#r4today

Photo identification will need to be presented to collect your ballot paper at polling stations from 4 May 2023.
This is to protect your vote, and to prevent it being used without your knowledge.
So the story was to serve their own self interests, not the public’s. Who would’ve thought 🤔.
Just like Brexit, there’s only one interest populism is interested in serving and it’s not that of wider society
#r4today

Rwanda isn’t the electoral advantage Sunak thinks.
Polling shows most voters don’t support and those who do don’t believe it will happen or deliver value for money.
Sunak would be better delivering a manifesto for NHS, education and the economy.
