@mattcolville Buuuut, in my D&D setting wizards use towers as like reverse light houses. There aren't many wizards coz it takes so long to be one, so if a town needs help they can light a signal fire and the wizard can see a long way in all directions from their tower to know if they're needed

They would make throw-away jokes in character about my PC being "just a girl". Ask the GM how attractive or unattractive female NPCs were. All these little, fairly innocuous things that people aren't doing to hurt you at all... They build up. And they get heavier, and heavier.
