Hello
#PortfolioDay
I'm Damien, an illustrator and concept artist based in France and specialized in dreamlike illustrations taking place in Science Fiction and Fantasy settings 🦧💚
@arvalis
I've been trying to find a way to properly thank you for a couple of hours now but I still can't find the right words ahah
I was in awe when I saw my notifications this morning, thank you so much for sharing my work, I truly apreciate it :)
"Primal Whale."
I wanted to take a short break from working on Püpa and design a creature. It was refreshing to work on something that could fit a Dark Fantasy/Gothic IP and I would love to work on a few more monsters and environments with this design philosophy.
#creaturedesign
I would like to thank the many (many) newcomers that have followed my page in the last few days :)
It really was unexpected and I can't express how grateful I am for your support and kind words. I'll work even harder from now on !
An illustration based on ICO, Fumito Ueda and team ICO's video game released in 2001 for the Playstation 2 and on its literary adaptation written by Miyuki Miyabe.
Visual development piece for Püpa, an illustrated SF short story I'm working on. The story is told from the perspective of Kafka who narrates his journey through a megastructure in his journal.

Black and white portrait studies I did as a way to practice values and anatomy.
The fourth picture is based on a screenshot taken from David Lynch's Eraserhead.

"Tartarus. A place concealed beneath the abyss where sinners and monsters alike are sent after their demise.
The primal whale is one of the many mythological beasts living below. [...]
Once a scourge of the first ages defeated by prehistoric heroes, the burning carcass of this ancient titan now lurks within the ruins of what used to be Pandaemonium."
I envision the two characters holding hands below the frame, just like they hold hands on the original japanese covers illustrated by
@yokotanji
I plan on creating a more complex double illustration based on this story in the future.
@silverheatherr
This may be the best piece of SH2 fanart I've ever seen, fantastic work! You captured the vibe of the game in a wonderful way and I especially like how you depicted Mary and the roses/notes!
@TigeraRainbowra
Thank you so much, let's all love Lain ! SLE may be my favourite anime, I rewatch it once a year and its atmosphere always leave me in awe. The PS1 game, artbooks and musical albums were fantastic too, it really was a great project
Pupä - Kafka and the Cicada
Early concept art for Pupä, an illustrated short story taking place in a Science Fiction setting I'm working on. The character's name is Kafka.

A little fanart of Serial Experiments Lain I did in my free time, it was a good opportunity to work on values and experiment with texts :)
I'm trying to give a softer look/feel to my work, I feel like my usual style is a bit rough
@Apollyon_abyss
Fantastic work, as always ! I love the bluish tint of the inside part of his cape
Griffith truly is a fantastic character, I think a lot of artists can relate to some extent to his worldview ("the dream above all else")
@ViktorSabbathXO
And Blame is a major inspiration actually ahah
I'm not skilled nor knowledgable enough in perspective to illustrate it just yet but the setting is a megastructure mostly made of carved stone (in my mind, the architecture is similar to Shadow of the Colossus and Ico's)
@MonsieurPlouf
@MonsieurPlouf
Ca me fait la meme chose avec les musiques de Silent Hill et celles de Final Fantasy XI, la patate de nostalgie fait son apparition foudroyante dés les premières notes de certains morceaux
@adsk4
I hope to become as skilled, dedicated and creative as you are Sir, it's an honor to be one of your contemporaries and live at the same time as great artists such as yourself.
@adsk4
Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely try them out someday, your sketches are mesmerizing and full of texture and it's a feel I'd like to infuse in mine as well
@toutancitron

@Knightsundere
I love the composition and visual storytelling, I don't know if you ever finished this piece but you should definitely revisit/remake it someday :)
@ViktorSabbathXO
I verified just in case but I didn't thankfuly ahah
The differences are subtle: the nose is slightly higher, the left eye was slightly tweaked and the character has been moved to the left (the picture used to look weird when mirrored because the composition wasn't balanced)
@arvalis
Your Garchomp piece is outstanding! You're one of the artists that made me fall in love with creature design more than a decade ago (your venusaur piece from 2012 has a special place in my heart) and I hope to have half of your skill someday! Can't wait for your next projects :)

@MRay_Games
My thoughts exactly, this is the exact reason why I've been playing nothing but ps2/early ps3 games these past few years :/
Games like Silent Hill 2/3, Metal Gear and Shadow of the Colossus that are short (10/20 hours) but have a lot of replay-value feel especially wonderful
