The Rays will add a sign to the back wall at Tropicana Field for the postseason to promote their plan to split future seasons between Tampa Bay and Montreal.
Rays lose 6-1 to the Houston Astros and are eliminated from the 2019 postseason.
Thanks to all the Rays fans who followed us and who read DRaysBay, we love you all.
Although the season didn't end exactly how we wanted, I enjoyed (nearly) every minute of it. See y'all in April!
If you were a Rays fan in 2010 and 2011, the specter of playing Texas is a haunting one. Trying to remind myself: different players, different managers, hopefully different outcome.
to our friends
@LookoutLanding
you will never have have a player as fan friendly as Randy. This is how he is spending the evening after learning about the trade. Grab a seat in the left field bleachers bc he chats with folks between innings.
BREAKING: The Oakland A's will start exploring relocation possibilities after Major League Baseball suggested the organization consider moving to other cities if the Howard Terminal stadium proposal is not approved by local politicians.
News at ESPN:
The Rays are eliminated from the World Series in 6 games. We hope you had as much fun as we did this season! In a world on fire, it was nice to have baseball as a distraction. Glad you followed us all season, and look forward to some offseason content soon!
Folks.....you're not gonna believe this. Not sure if anyone, anywhere, has ever noticed this.....but the AL East & Central standings are *all* in descending order!!!
I keep thinking of articles early this postseason saying that the Rays were simply not fun to watch.
And I cannot reconcile that viewpoint with the baseball we've seen. If you don't appreciate elite defense, power pitching, and tight games...I honestly don't know what to tell you
Just want to take a second to appreciate Tyler Glasnow. A year ago the guy was wearing a cast (or whatever they wear). Today he pitched five shutout innings. 2 weak hits. No walks. No runner in scoring position.
9 years ago Dan Johnson and Evan Longoria hit home runs to propel the Rays to the AL Wild Card. So itโs incredible to see the Lightning keep the light of September 28 alive.
Observation: The Rays are as bad as their 22-26 record since June 1.
Unless they pick it up and fast, the Athletics and Indians will be the Red Sox's only competition for the Wild Card.
Kevin Cash said on the postgame that this morning, Chris Mazza was fishing in Fort Myers when Cash called him and asked if he could pitch today after Cruz went on the IL.
Diekman with a surprisingly poignant interview with Trisha postgame:
"We really needed this to celebrate what we've done all year...especially for the young kids, like it's really hard to make the playoffs, you have to be super appreciative and you have to cherish the moment."
It is August 18th. The Rays have won their 110th game. Wander Franco has hit his 75th double of the year as the Rays win 11-1. Jeffrey Springs has not allowed a three ball count since May.
For the Rays to manage to be in LA for the first hurricane in nearly 65 years seems like some particularly bad luck, or perhaps just another instance of 2023 in action.
โIโm happy,โ said a beer-soaked Evan Longoria. โIโm happy. This is a special group of guys. Belief is a very strong thing.โ
The Diamondbacks are on a Cinderella run. And they just dismantled the Dodgers in an NLDS sweep.
Story on a surreal night in AZ:
Iโve noticed that most fans without a postseason team are saying they will root for maybe Orioles or Twins. At first I was offended but then I realized: the Rays have now entered โalways in the playoffs, ho humโ territory! So now I embrace this as a point of pride.
I know we're all stressed about this winner-take-all game, but a fight to the end with the winningest team in baseball this year with a legitimate chance to make the biggest ALDS comeback in MLB history?
Sign me the hell up.
