Government announce new measures to improve safety for women and girls
PM Boris Johnson has announced an immediate boost to the government's existing Safer Streets fund on Monday, intended to create safer environments for women and girls. Debates around women's safety have increased since the death of Sarah Everard, who was killed while walking at night. The funds will be used for increased CCTV and street lighting and more patrols. Some campaigners feel the measures do not go far enough.
