I get negative comments about my appearance and/or disability whatever city I’m in. Though, it is happens mostly when there are lots of drunk people around.
Ableism exists and I will be fighting it until my death.
I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed new Film/TV content to
@soundspheremag
over the last few weeks.
We launch the new platform soon!!
Big love x
When I got into my mid-30s people were like, ‘Are you worried about getting older, don’t you wish you were young again?’
I was like… “Dude, I’ve got Cerebral Palsy, I’m able to stand. I was supposed to be in a wheelchair full-time from 16. Every year on my feet is a win!” 🤘🏻
I'm gonna try and spend the rest of my life changing perceptions of what it's like to succeed with a disability, being from Hull, and fighting against all the preconceptions that come with that.
It's going to be a hard slog, but I'm up for it. Thanks to everyone for supporting.

Some people work in journalism for clicks and/or the clout. That's totally fine, I get it.
I'm in it for the beautiful stories I've helped to tell, and the awesome friends/connections that I've made.
In my head (sometimes) I might be like, “oh yeah, my mates that work for bigger companies and get bigger interviews are doing ‘better’”.
The thing I have to remind myself is that I built
@soundspheremag
, got the interviews and built the reputation - I answer to nobody. 😎
Loved catching up with
@raven_numan
to talk 'My Reflection', musical creativity and more.
This stuff is fantastic, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
@soundspheremag
Pinning this.
My aim is to still be on my feet at 40. Still interviewing great musicians/sports entertainers. Still counselling and supporting the disabled and neurodivergent community, and still making solid jams with my friends. Oh, and travelling as much as possible! 🤘🏻
When people ask me, “how did you interview whatever person?”
The answer is years of hard work, and graft trying to build a reputation for
@soundspheremag
, and myself.
I am eternally grateful for all the opportunities I am afforded, by the people/management/PRs that give them.
We’ve had hundreds of e-mails (so far) from very talented freelancers, with great pitches. Thank you to those that have been in touch!
As you can imagine, each person has a variable rate, and we will try to reach agreements on payment according to each person’s rate. Cheers.
@jodiedebb
’s enthusiasm for Bray, Caleb and her family +
@InsidersPW
was always infectious. I just found out, and wasn’t gonna post, but I wouldn’t have connected with so many Fireflies and The Insiders Community without Jodie, Jeff and
@hostwththemost
. Love you all.
I have interviewed some of my heroes, and created jobs in the creative industries for others as part of
@soundspheremag
.
I get to talk about some of my favourite things, with my best friends as part of
@GimmeAHullYeah
.
It's an honour and a privilege to live the life that I do.

All our thoughts, prayers go to her family .. our sincerest condolences to all of them .. Jeff and I are deeply saddened by their loss .. Jodie will be dearly missed .. ❤️ 😢
In my opinion, Bray Wyatt was alternative culture in a wrestling context.
He gave a voice to those who felt like they never had one, he made millions of people who look different want to be seen, and those who thought different want to be heard.
Great to catch up with
@stefanolsdal
earlier to chat about plans for
@DIGITAL21_
, Made For Humans and
@PLACEBOWORLD
.
Give Made For Humans a listen if you can. Lovely stuff.
If anyone wants to know why I’ve always cared so much about wrestling, and what it’s helped me to get through, this video from

@TOMTALKSRUBBISH
will tell you! Cheers!! ❤️🤘🏻
When I came back from my last stint in America, I was unsure about what I was doing with my life, but sure that I wanted to train to become a counsellor.
Around four years on, I have done it.
I am officially qualified. Thank you to those of you who supported, and believed...
I’ve always seen
@soundspheremag
’s mission as supporting bands and artists on the way up, and helping them out at whatever stage. I think that’s cool, personally. Sometimes I struggle when people are like, “who’s the biggest band you’ve worked with...”. I mean, check the site. 😂
I believe you can take a break from something that is draining you, until you want to go back to it, and if you don’t, that’s cool.
That’s not giving up.

@Failure
's 'Another Space Song' to me, is perfect. Here it is, being performed live for my friends over at
@JBTV
in Chicago.
I'll be back over one day to see more shows!
The biggest lesson I've learned as a music journalist is try not to get disheartened when PRs turn down certain "huge band" interview requests, because if you take opportunities to support new/emerging bands, in 5/10 years time, they may get to that level, and you'll have helped.
When I was born, my mum was told I wouldn’t achieve much academically or otherwise. I just found this letter, from 2006, when I was on The Dean’s List at
@KeeneState_
in the US. I had to fight to get there, and I smashed it.
If you get turned down by a PR for an interview pitch, don't be too upset, opportunities usually come around again down the line. It can depend on time, publication size etc.
As always, do what you can for emerging bands and artists, because you never know what can happen.
